Brandon,
I was in a huge flare when I started oral meth. No change for two weeks or so, then the head ache came on like gang busters. He told me to keep on it for a month.
I was nearly bawling cuase of the head ache. I got better in a few days. I have no idea what is happening to you. Some flares are as bad as you are speaking of.
I will keep you in my thougths and prayers.

Thanks for telling me that Rumble. The rheumy doesn't expect the meth to help alot. He said it will be needed for the remicade. I am on sulfasalazine, the metho, folic acid, predisone, and tramdol. I have been taking enbrel but its not been very effective. The rheumy's goal right now is to get me off the prednisone since I have been on it for 6 months at 20mg a day

Thank you for the prayers everyone. They are much appreciated. I am still in pain today but there feels like there is a liquid flowing through my body on fire as well. Very odd but as far as I can tell it isn't adding anything just alot of hot sensations in various joints.

mtx is a weak dose of a very old and quite toxic chemo therapy drug...it makes people feel like crap in general and all that other bad stuff you might have encountered in experience with chemo meds...

look, bubba, it takes months for this stuff to work on your AS if it does so at all...your doctor will continue to increase dosage cause 7.5 ain't enough to do more than make your stomach churn etc. this is not a HOT, very effective med at all under even the best of circumstances.

friends don't let friends take mtx.

Hi Brandon,

YES, I had that same reaction! After a few days taking mtx I was in the worst, body wide pain I had ever been in! I called the md's office crying in pain. As soon as I stopped it, my pain went back to "normal". I don't why, but it was an awful experience!

All the best to you.

Brandon,

I took MTX for almost 2 years and it did nothing for me, but I have heard different for others. Have you read up on it? I research every drug before I start it so I can decide if I want to take the risks versus what it is suppose to do.

I do believe it said like Wendy it takes time to build up in your system like several weeks, so if you are feeling something quick it could be more of a reaction to it maybe??? I wold just keep an eye on it write down your symptoms, how your feeling..it seems I remember in the first weeks of taking it feeling like I was hit by a truck.

Just remember it is a very potent drug used in everything from AS, cancer, ect so it must be pretty strong.

Keep us updated,

Lisa

That sounds like a pretty bad reaction. I remember one birth control pill doing that to me. I know that different people can have more serious reactions to some drugs than others.

I think if I had a reaction like that, I'd stop the drug immediately.

Hi Brandon, I've been on MTX for quite awhile now and I didn't experience that either, I would report that your rheumy before taking it again, it may be some sort of allergic reaction...as Wendy said, it takes some time to get up to the max dose of 25mg., it took me a couple of months...again, I'd check with my doc and my pharmacist...
rumble, thank you for the Folic Acid warning...that's the first time I've ever heard that...my treatment day was yesterday but I know better now, next treatment day, I won't take the Folic Acid there's no sense in taking such a harsh medication if it isn't helping because you took something else...thank you... smile

You're welcome, Michelle. When I started MTX, rheumy gave me a page of instructions and that was one that was underlined. It was copied from a web site (and attributed), but I've thrown it away (after a year!). I'll try to find that link and post it here. It seems that a lot of people are not given that tidbit of information...which seems shocking to me. Off to my Remicade infusion. grin
