If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I just heard about the earthquake in Christchurch and the cyclone in Queensland. Are our KAers in both places alright? Please let us know.
Love and hugs,
Kat

Pretty desperate isn't Kat. Shudderingly horrible to live through. Always htink of the animals as well. All too ghastly.
Sheesh, what a way to haul in the New Year! Sure do hope that our KA members are safe. They, their families and animals.

I've just heard from a friend (not a KA member) in Christchurch. She says they are all absolutely on tenterhooks again. The damage in the centre of the city seems pretty bad. Its not just the main shocks either - its the seemingly endless aftershocks, many of which have been over force 4, which is a pretty bad quake on its own. One good thing is that NZ does have a really good disaster response system, so things like water, power, etc do get sorted out fairly quickly. I can't imagine how awful it must be there with things never having really settled down since Sept 4th.

That's awful, my heart really goes out to them...it makes it so much harder to cope with a disaster when stuck in the aftermath post-trauma, especially the children, it's hard when all they see around them is destruction...they're definitely in my prayers...

Friends and family are on edge again... These aftershocks have been right under the city and strong, so in some places may have felt a lot stronger than the bigger ones back in September. These have happened when things seemed to be settle down a bit more. While folk are keeping strong, it has definitely been taking a toll.
Hope any Qland KA-ers are keeping safe.

Oh dear, I am sure that we have some members in Queensland too... I sure hope that everyone is okay. I hadn't even heard about the quakes in Christchurch yet... that must be awfully scary, I can hardly imagine it. Sending good thoughts and wishes across the globe!

Thanks for the updates on Christchurch. Still hoping beyond hope that someone in Queensland will be able to get online soon. From the looks of the flooding and such, it doesn't seem likely.
Torrential rains on the East Coast of Canada, snow storms coming up the Eastern seaboard of the States, massive snow all over Europe, cyclones and earthquakes Down Under. All at once. Good grief. It's like our little blue planet is being turned inside out!
Warm hugs,
Kat

Hi Kat,
Thanks for worrying about good ol' little Oz!
Strike a couple up for global warming me thinks!
Yes, the flooding is pretty bad in Qld, worst they've had in history (I'm on the other side of the country,QLD is in the top right hand side of my map in my signature.
Luckily we have nowhere near the population density of the states, so even though whole towns have been flooded, luckily the people have been evacuated.
The main concern is the aftermath, and the fact that they think there is still worse to come.
We have flooding in the North East of Australia and bush fire warnings for the rest of Australia.
They've forecasted four days in a row of 40c in Perth (where I live) next week, with the average temperature at night being around 22c.
Time to head to the beach!
All the best,
James

Exactly, Jimmy, chalk one (well, more than one, really) up to global warming! Man, it blows my mind how many areas are experiencing extreme weather these days. I really don't remember it being so prevalent before in my life.
Thank you for checking in. I hope everyone is safe and simply unable to get on line.
Now, get thee to the beach!!!
Warm hugs,
Kat
