If you would like a break from A.S. pain go and have a holiday in Bali Indonesia.
My daughter and I have just come back and we have never been so comfortable or should I say normal!!!!

This is the second time this year we have gone there, and each time we are normal.

The weird part......standing in our airport to check back in.....the pain starts. By the time we clear customs and drive home, we are back to our achy selves.

I'm looking forward to going back again already!

So go to Bali and give yourself a break from A.S.

Cheers

Funnily enough, I had the same thing happen when I went on a holiday to Adelaide in April 2009. The pain was greatly reduced for the whole week I was there.

I checked out the bureau of meterology site a while later, and discovered that Adelaide, in April, on average, has a huge low pressure system hanging about.

So maybe it was the same when you were in Bali?

Where abouts in Australia are you from - I will laugh if you say Adelaide!!!

WOW!!! So happy to hear that you had a pain free time. You will have to start saving for an early retirement to Bali. lol
Hope you continue to feel better for Christmas and new year.

I had the same experience on a trip to Hawaii in about 2005. I wonder if it is related to reduced stress.

Hey Noelene,

Before I read this post I PM'd you. Glad to hear the Bali weather was indeed helpful.

Funnily enough, when I went to Queensland in late Sept I had my worst flare ever. I would have thought that the weather in Qld is similar to that in Bali but I could be wrong. Either way, I must give Bali a go smile

Been to Hawaii a few times and was relatively pain free while there...in the summer. Went once in the winter and hurt most of the time. Maybe it's seasonal? Glad you had a good time in Bali.

I get the totally reduced pain, improvement in function every time I go away from home on a work trip. I figure its the result of a combination of things - for a start I am usually driving an hour at a time, visiting somewhere, not staying put in one position for very long at any time, so not ending up seizing up. Next thing is that I don't have to do any of the household maintenance tasks - cleaning, cooking, etc, which are all things that really get my back, shoulders, knees. Third major factor is diet - I am coeliac as well, and while I am away in order to ensure I eat a safe diet I restrict right down to very simple foods, grilled meat and salad or veg - no starches at all, so I give myself a really good NSD for a week or two. Final factor is that I am just that bit more active generally with having to move myself around short distances often. I don't get the chance to seize up and do get more exercise than I would at home.

I haven't really checked it out properly, but I suspect that I am generally better any time I am away from home. Might have to get myself the sort of job that really does keep me on the road a lot more.

Wow that is one very expensive perscription.

Every time I drive down the New Jersey Turnpike from NYC to Philadelphia the trip into Philly has just the opposite result. Everything starts to hurt tenfold.

anytime i can be up walking around being active vs tied to my desk at work, doing repetitive tasks, things improve, unless i'm going through a flare, but otherwise, all the being mobile is a good thing for me! smile

Hmmm - most of my patients with joint pain ache more when there is a *high* pressure system coming through, so maybe there is something in it, although research has never backed it up - empirical / anecdotal evidence could support it...

James - Noelene is just down the road from you in the Wild Wild West! cool
