I just watched it. smile Thanks for posting. It's sad that doctor's are so often at the mercy of lying cheating dopers who make it so difficult for those who truly need actually opiate medications. There should be some sort of pre-prescription counseling that is required of medical providers. But the first guy that died in the show? It isn't the doctor's fault that he took valium, oxycontin, and alcohol all together. He died by his own hand, plain and simple. It's people like that who are the cause for doctor's refusal to adequately treat the rest of us. Harumph!

I work with addicted felons now. I have 30 year old lady who destroyed 1/3 of her heart shooting oxy/valium. Still wants to use, we locked her up for 40 days until she had her baby because she was pounding tramadol. Have another who passed out with a needle in her arm, she shot up with heroin. Her 5,3, and 1 year old were in the home. I put people in prison for twenty five years that transporting the loads of hard drugs. I am seeing the end result of their efforts, it is very sad, so many lives and families torn apart. They are all people dealing with a demon that is unimaginabile.

I might sound a bit harsh, but I feel drug dealers should get the death penalty. Just look at all the lives that they destroy. First there is the addict and then the addict's family. When my daughter and her no-good boyfriend did drugs, they just forgot that they had babies/children. I had a few big fights with county social workers in my quest to get custody/adopt my two granddaughters. They wanted to split up the girls and adopt them out to two different families so that they could get more Federal money.

We were lucky the we got legal help and that many years later, Sandy decided to change her life around and join NA and a really good church. We never got over the changes that happened to our daughter, she had been a bright straight A student that had everything in the world to look forward to and in a short time, she was homeless, sick and living on the street and doing anything she could just for Meth.

People just don't understand what damage those drugs can do.

Thanks for your input and stories guys guys.. The addicts and dopers are just hustlers plain and simple there's a system and they know how to exploit it. It's sad stuff. I was concerned about people like us though ... that have genuine need for pain relief getting trapped on some of these drugs. I've only had a few script of oxy and have been very careful to keep it that way. I know that 5 mg can become 30 mg that can become 100mg very easily with opiates and yeah just being very cautius with the stuff and putting up with alot of pain for fear of being in that situation. Do we do what makes us feel better and functional despite the risks?

its always a balance. no point in living a long life if there is zero quality of life, IMHO. but also don't want to be so risky as to cut life way too short. always a balancing act.

not that i'd necessarily want to be on opiates, but even when i described the SI muscle spasms as screaming to get out of bed to use the bathroom at times, not all the time, and just something for those rare events so i don't feel like life is not worth living. was finally told i could have tramadol if i came in like that for the doctor to see. i told her i can't even get out of bed to use the bathroom without my husband lifting me out of bed under those circumstances and i would not put myself through that to just prove to her that i was in that much pain. we sort of hit a stalemate.

then finally another doctor finally prescribed tramadol when my pain was so bad it was shutting down my bowels so i was not digesting my food. literally could not sit or lay so sleep was impossible. ironically that was the same day that the same doctor handed me a script for LDN, not realizing that tramadol like the narcotics also works at the opiate receptors. so i chose the LDN over the tramadol, hoping for not just short term relief but long term relief as well......yeh, that's the behavior of a drug seeker.....NOT!

i even held on to a pred script for 10 months before using it, so i definitely have a history of using what i consider the bare minimum of drugs. even my zanaflex that is prescribed for 3 times a day, i only take once at bedtime most days, just enough to get me through.

and i've been with all these doctors for years now. it really shouldn't be so hard to get a little relief when we need it. think all this drug abuse makes it all the harder.

or maybe i'm just naive as to how easy it is to become addicted to drugs and should consider myself fortunate that these drugs have been withheld from me and i've had to rely on ice to numb my pain, i don't know?
