Deb,
Congratulations on your son's approval!!! Not an easy feat. I will contact our insurance co. on Monday. I am still uneasy about how to detect a quack of a doctor. This is brand new territory for us.

there are QUACKS on both side of the fence
All I can say I do your own research-there is a wealth of info out there and its accessible to all who look

Been researching. You've got some good stuff. Sounds a lot like NSD and organic foods is the way to go for all of us.
Staffylove, None of the functional doctors in our area accept insurance. Dr. David Brownstein did write a book titled, "Overcoming Arthritis". He talks about nutrition and detoxing. Should have it soon, thank God for Ebay!

Hi Joanne,
Thanks for posting that link. I desperately need a fat burner... the typical low fat dieting doesn't work for me anymore.
HLA-B27+, JRA diagnosis in 1981, re-diagnosed as AS in 1988. Also iritis, colitis, and psoriasis. NSD + low carb helps me. My health makes it hard for me to post in a timely way.

I've chosen to work with integrative practitioners (except where a specialist is a must). Integrative docs take usually take a "conventional" and "alternative" approach, utilizing the most effective elements of both. They try to identify the root cause of the problem (as opposed to addressing symptoms only), much like you mention of these functional medicine doctors. Perhaps they are very similar and it is just a matter of semantics. Anyway, a link to help you identify/screen functional medical doctors your area (perhaps you've already used this). Hey all
Ive been using a natural mineral chelation and diet for 3 months now and Im pain free. My joints are still audible but PAIN is GONE
Off for Xrays today to see if any damage has been done. I still have a sneaking suspicion that AS may be involved. I have RA but B27 neg.

I saw naturopaths as well for a while, problem was the expense. I also found they did not always listen so well either.
