what other veggies are there? i cant have fresh due to allergy and broccoli seems the only one i can tolerate. [i steam no less than 4 min] i wanna cut out fruit like you to see if it helps but then ill only be eating meat. its good to know im not the only one struggling but im still humgary and it still sucks. no fresh veggies, no sugar, no vinegar, no nothing. this is what ive been eating everyday for 2 months.

breakfst- yogurt w/ peaches and pineapple
lunch- 2 lg eggs w/ cheddar cheese and sometimes boccoli. raisins
dinner- chicken, tuna, or beef w/ olive oil and sea salt. sometimes dried sage on chicken. sometimes broccoli.

try to add in something new = pain and or swelling joints.

i cant do aspartame/nutrasweet so i never tried the jello and dont know if cool whip is ok for me

cauliflower, steam lightly or eat raw (safest)
cucumbers (seeds may be starchy)
celery
green red orange yellow sweet bell peppers
cabbage, steamed or sauted lightly is good with butter/salt
romaine lettuce (or bibb, or any other kind) wrapped around meat with tomatoes and salt) almost said mayo, but that has vinegar, argh.

oh yeah your right, this does suck.

Sooooooooo why are we doing this crazy diet??

-I have no Rheumy right now
-I can't take biologics or nsaids
-my right wrist is fused, left one is close and I don't want
my whole body to be like this
-in the winter I cried daily if I ate sugar/starch from the pain
-I'm only 35, I have a long time left to go on this crazy planet and I don't want it to be entirely as miserable as the last 3 years has been!!

okay, now you.

well i cant have any fresh veggies due to allergy. they all must be cooked longer to prevent reaction. except broccoli. for some reason i do better with. i have not had a salad or any other fresh veggie in 12 yrs. cant eat tree nuts either = allergy.
so why am i doing this diet?

-terrified of biologics and was told thy may not help anyway.
-im like a statue.
- i wanna drive and work again.
-tired of being trapped in my body and my house.
-tired of relying on others to take care of me like im 100yrs old.
-SI fused and certainly dont want more.
-tired of being so helpless and frustrated that i cry.
-i want my old self back, fat and all!!!

Oh my gosh girl!

What the heck kind of allergy is that???

So you are meats, oils and eggs. Boiled eggs?? Deviled eggs (not sure what we are going to mix in there though, no mayo, no pickles)

"fat and all" you are so cute. I am so sorry you are going through this horrible time. Did you read carol sinclaire's book?? I haven't yet, I wonder if she has more ideas. Honestly I'm not sure you should take the sugar out. Fruit and meat are liveable, not sure about meat only. So 2 months, huh?? How much improvement??? Any? I know it sounds wacky, but just hold on to that 3 month mark. So many of us have said, "at 3 months it finally started working."

Do you take coconut oil?? It can speed the good effects of diet, it is anti-bacterial and kills klebs in your gut.

Good luck, praying for you!!

well ive been on it 3 mo. but first month was still eating no nos w/ out knowledge. yeah i read the book and it was great. when i discovered sugar, vinegar, heavy cream, maple syrup, and even honey are problems, thats when it got really upsetting. i have problems [pain] w/ coconut pretty bad so im scared of the oil. just adding mayo would add variety, ya know? thanks for the love :] somethings gotta change though cuz this is getting old! yes, ive seen small improvements but its just not enough.
im sorry tink for the pity party on your thread.

Oh Sunny hugss
This thread is all about "confessing" what you can't say anywhere else.
We can all help each other with our diet problems, hon.
We all care about each other on here, don't we?
Everyone has their own personal "dose" of AS which is not quite the same as anyone elses... we have to stick together and get each other through the bad times.
I feel for you so much, Sunny, I really do.
I did not know until now just how restrictive your diet has become no
You deserve a medal!
Your plight has really put things into perspective for me.
This is no pity party - this is real life and it ain't always pretty!
Hang on in there sweetie rainbow heart rainbow

thanks tink, im honored to recieve the medal :]

we all have our issues yes, but for me, sometimes i have to pity myself for a bit before i again realize that it could be worse. i have to be thankful for what i can have and do. there may be just as many ppl wishing they had it as good as me as there are ppl thanking God they arent this bad. its very comforting to not be alone in this.

my sisters are heavy and trying to lose weight. to have to listen to them tell me about how hard their day was staying on diet.. pfft.. i think 'wow, you have NO idea'. they do not really know how strict my diet is [long story]

so tink.. be strong! you CAN do it! We ALL CAN do it w/ shared strength!

love and peace

So I tried to be extra careful with diet yesterday and it payed off big time. Huge improvement in my knees and I would say overall pain down from a 3 to a 2.

This is what I ate:

eggs cooked in butter with salt

brocolli sauted in olive oil and butter with a little sliced garlic and some salt(only ate 2 of the garlic slices, they mostly flavor it when it is cooking.

prime rib with a little horseradish(some starch)
green salad with ranch(also probably starchy)
diet 7-up

sugar free ice cream bar covered in fake chocolate
1 dried plum/prune

always 2 probiotic pills, cyclobenzaprine 10 mg and LDN 4.5mg and fish oil 5ml-10ml

So how is this different from my usual? I usually eat 1/3 cup of low sugar yogurt with a few blueberries, usually a little cheese, and sugar free candy, almond butter. So my fruit and dairy intake were less by a little. It's so bizzare. I dont know how long I could maintain that type of eating. I have already had some bites of a blue raspberry snowcone and a bite of cotton candy. THAT will be my birthday cake for today I guess!!

You know Sunny, I've been thinking "why" it might take us a while to feel better when dieting and I think it may have to do with the whole inflammation process. Our joints are being destroyed slowly with inflammation and then we cut out whatever ignites inflammation it probably takes a while to flush out remaining inflam and to let the areas heal up.

It is nice to feel better on my birthday though!!
