If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I hate to write this becasue it's personal, but I am looking for answers and this has been a great place so far to find them. In the last few months I get an attack of what seems to be food poisoning, basically throwing up and the stuff that goes with it for 5-12 hours until nothing is left in my system.I've had this happen 3 times in 4 months . Noone else in the house gets sick, so it's something wrong with me. I'm the cook so I eat what evryone else does. I hate it because once it comes on I know what I am in for. I haven't noticed a pattern as of yet. Two days ago it happened again. I'm only on 5mg of prednisone which I am trying to get off of, so I was wondering could that lower my immunity to bacteria ? I got a cortisone shot in my knee about 5 days before I got sick, and frankly I don't ever want another one ever.. I feel off when I've gotten them. any feedback would help. thanks

Diet change has improved my RA. I feel best eating raw veggies and some fruits and avoiding grains, sugars, nightshades, beans and dairy. Sed rate dropped from 65 to 19, but it took over a year. www.fatsickandnearlydead.com excess fat/oils = pain for me recipes for raw food on Youtube "raw food romance" and "healing josephine" Josephine is in remission from RA after two years by change diet/exercise

NSAIDs did this to me. I also have a somewhat similar reaction to Pred, and to SFZ - though not quite as violent. So, 'could' be a drug side effect. IF it is, then please do file in a report to the FDA site...
Loathe that nausea and sickness - AND all the rest that goes with it!!
Suggest yu check this out with yr doctor or rheumy. Hope you get it sorted soon. Take care -

If tylenol is an NSAID then yes, I am taking it for pain and Sulfasalizine. This happened twice before I was taking Prednisone and Sulfasalizine. Thanks for your info.

so this happened to you twice before when you were taking NO meds? or what were you taking at the time? tylenol is not NSAID but could affect liver function. how much you taking?

This has happened to me twice in the last year. Same thing, nobody else got sick.
Did you get VERY feverish with agonizing aches? I got those symptoms as well, and each time it lasted 5 hours or so, then went away.
I can't connect it to anything either.
Maybe a gallbladder attack? That's all I could come up with.
Hope it doesn't happen to you again! It's no freaking fun.

Oh, right! I was still taking NSAIDS when my two episodes happened. Hmmm.... they both happened before I found out about the "fatal allergy" as my doctor says.

Are you taking your meds on an empty stomach? I know I have had issues in the past taking those meds on an empty stomach. I once had to pull over to the side of the road and puke on my way to work. I actually take prednisone (when I do take it) with half and half or else I will be sick most of the day.

One of my worst attacks happened on my way over to America. Was changing flighs at AL, missed my connecting flight as was bathroom bound for NINE hours. Desperate. Was very sick for a whole week - NSAIDs... Refuse to take em now. Then the other attacks were Pred and that, eeek, SFZ. Oh man, was I ill. Prefer the condition to the so-called 'management' thanks!

Hello there Sorry to hear about your nasty bouts of sickness. I definitely think you should check it out with your doctor.
It's strange for you to post this now, because I got struck down yesterday with the most horrendous upset stomach too (that's the polite way of saying it).
I started out with stomach cramps yesterday afternoon, by the evening they were doubling me over and I was in agony with it - I then went onto have a little sickness but mainly diarrea until 3am this morning.
This is not my first attack like this either - I had the same thing a couple of weeks ago. Last time my husband was very ill too, but this time it just seems to be me.
I wonder if those of us with AS have an increased succeptablity to gut related viruses etc? And as you say, that certain drugs lower your immune system responses.
Hope this is the last incident you have to suffer, hon.
KickAS and help others do the same!
