Hmm

I miss just being able to get up normal from the bed.
I miss sitting in the floor with my kids.
I miss road trips.
I miss jumping on the trampoline with the kids.
I miss volleyball.
I miss high heels.
I miss not being able to sit anywhere for more than a few.
I miss not EVER being comfortable in bed.
I miss the wild and crazy sex (ok there I said it..lol)
I miss being able to work in the yard.
I miss my clean house.
I miss jogging.
I miss mall trips.
I miss walking normal.
I miss looking normal.
I miss being what normal is suppose to be.

That's my short list..

I miss doing a lot of things, but I have also gained a lot of things. A lot of things that I don't want to do, I have a built in excuse for not doing them. My AS seems to have done it's thing and is just leaving me with what I have and I have learned to live with it. The Wife and I are enjoying our retirement years and are traveling the world. No it is not convenient traveling international in a wheel chair, but it can be done. In all honesty I think that I have gained more from AS than I have lost. And I have lost a lot. But the loss of those things have given me a greater insight into life that serves me well.

Hi there Loz. If it wasn't for AS I never would have met you or Jeanna (or Mig or everyone else who are so fantastic). If I didn't meet you I'd probably still be able to spell Lescter but not know where it was.
What do I miss? I miss playing golf and cursing up a storm. Darts I miss, running 10k 5 times a week I miss, being able to do more than 1/2 a cartwheel I miss smile
Things in life change without my wise input so I have to go along as best as possible.
I've missed a lot in the last few years but I've had so, so much before the AS that I feel pretty good, all things considered.
On maybe a positive note, I am a step closer to being able to get on Remicade, fingers crossed.
Like you mentioned Loz, a day, just a day without pain would be so brilliant.
BTW, there's an IMAX show called "Thrill Ride" which never made to Canada, as far as I know. They had to supply bags for the squeamish.
Have you seen it?

Hey Timo,
I never saw that particular IMAX presentation, no.

First IMAX I saw was in Toronto. I ws 14 years old and on holiday with my dad and brothers. I feel like it was at an Expo (for anyone who remembers those) but it might have been an unrelated showing.

It was IMAX surround cinema, where we all stood to watch and the pictures almost surrounded an audience of approx 100 viewers. The bit of the show I particularly remember was shown as a point-of-view piece, being in a fire truck racing through the streets. Unexpectedly a lady with a pram/baby carriage/stroller walked out in front of 'us' without looking. The film stopped suddenly as if the fire truck had stopped just as quick and we ALL staggered forwards, some even fell! It was just so cool to see and feel what our minds can do to us.

I've met some great people through this rotten disease, many of them Canadians. A kindly, polite and compasionate - yet equally sophisticated people it always seems to me yes

Cheers,

    Loz

Good to see you popping in here Gary, I often wonder about you and a lot of the old crowd from the early yrs. Glad to hear you are enjoying life. My wife is still working, but when we get a chance to get away, we just go. Don't stay away so long this time.

Wonderful to see you here again Gary!

I suppose we are all a product of our own past, so although it can be said that we miss certain things due to AS, it's also true we are who we are (in part) by way of not being able to do them.

I think that's the most philosophical I've been before 8:00am ever wink

Right at this moment I miss not being able to pack up a house (ready for moving on Monday) without suffering a considerable amount of pain. I'm pretty sure my wife Jeanna will agree.

Hope you can stick around some ol' buddy.

cheers,

    Loz

Hi all. Sorry I h.ave been MIA for some time and very busy with work and kids and fatigue to boot.

I miss:

Having energy
Not feeling like I have the flu everyday
Sitting on the floor and playing with my kids
Being spontaneous
Being comfortable
Not worrying
Being able to live without thinking, "Will I have enough energy for that?"
Working out and being very fit
Not having to hide my uncomfortableness (new word?)and pain from friends and family who do not understand.
Being able to drive
Working in my yard
Doing home projects
Family vacations
feeling hopeful
hanging out with my buddies
