Oh my gosh, I'm so happy that you have the scooter and have a way to get out and about comfortably!
People have so many issues and fears about being vulnerable that they often have this judgmental armor. It is unfair and impolite as well. Hopefully for every person that you feel gives you an odd look, there are several who give you a friendly look.

Jan, I confess I get far more high fives, fist bumps, salutes and "Thank you"s than I get negative interactions.
That doesn't take the sting out of the bad ones though.
I'm sure I'll become thick-skinned and build my own wall eventually.
