I've been worried about falling off and on for a while. I had a stupid fall in Nov '08 due to steroid myopathy. Now I think I have some nerve issues (or not, I don't know).
I rushed outside to retrieve my 4yo boy who has been hell bent on getting outside clad only in his spiderman briefs. He ran away from me (fortunately, he ran to the backyard where his 5yo sister was). I knew I couldn't catch up to them so I walked back to the front door to get my 15yo to get them and I tripped. Nothing like a sobbing mom to get a 15yo boy to spring to action. He gets them and entertains them for a while.

I find that I have skinned my right knee and scraped my left forearm. I think my forearm would have been much worse, but I was wearing a wrist brace. Later, I find an small, but painful abrasion on my right elbow. Now I'm feeling my neck and back seize up, so I'm not feeling well. Gee, now my right wrist hurts.

So I'm sharing this with all of you for sympathy but also to ask how you deal with these types of mishaps.

Ah, Micki, that really stinks! Nothing is worse, or scarier, than falling when you know you have so little control over the fall and, at least in my case, you know you can't get up by yourself. I'm very glad you weren't hurt any worse than the scrapes and bruises you received, and I really, really hope that none of the potential serious aches and pains that are trying to pop up are able to succeed in their efforts. Here's hoping your soreness and stiffness pass by quickly!

Thanks Brad. At least I was able to get myself up, but any ambition to make dinner went out the window. I haven't sat and watched this much tv in quite a while. LOL
Almost bedtime, too.

sorry to hear about your fall. for me its not so much falls that mess things up as much as turning in the shower or pressing the clutch in my car or other such trivial things that can still really mess me up. but i've found ice and/or heat to help some. feel better soon.

hugss

Micki....hope you heal up quickly. I feel for you. My ankle does too! rainbow

I noticed on the way home from work just now that it's a full moon. Maybe that's it. Although, I fell 2 weeks ago...so that excuse doesn't work for me.

Anyway, get well soon. Glad you had the teen there to help out. Keep those boo-boos clean. Have some warm tea to calm down.

Sorry to hear about your tumble. I have slipped a couple of times and it always left me feeling shaken. Maybe a soak in some Epsom salts might helped the siezed up muscles...? I hope you feel better soon.

So sorry to hear about you fall...
It only takes a second to slip or trip... but it takes much longer to heal up again.
Not too long though, I hope.
Take care - what a lovely son you have to take care of you like that hugss

Sorry to hear about your fall and glad you don't have too much damage considering what could have happened.

I keep having this terrible dream where I fall over in the shops and people just staring at me.

Sorry I don't have any advice on how to deal with these mishaps.
Or how to prevent them for that matter.
I just hope you dont have any more for a long long time.

One thing I learnt about falls, we don't bounce like we did as kids! I once fell after misjudging a chainlink fence and fell flat on my face, I honestly felt like I had been in a car wreck, lol. I hope the effects go away asap for you - it really does jolt you around, best wishes and extra soft hugs. Di hugss

Thanks, Sue. I used a little ice last night. Today I'm becoming aware of muscles/soft tissue that I hadn't really noticed before.
