I posted this in a thread that I started about sugar, but since it relates to this thread as well, I'll post it again.

He advocates a high-fat diet, and thinks or bodies are meant to run on fat as a primary energy source, instead of carbs. Many people on the forum report better cholesterol numbers after eating a diet similar to yours. Usually what happens is both their LDL and HDL numbers go up, but the HDL goes up even more than the LDL, and according to many it's the ratio that's important, more than the raw numbers.

I'm just now starting on practically the same diet you are. When I started NSD I was compensating for the lack of starchy carbs, with too much fruit.

Thanks Chris.

Yeah, I was skeptical on switching over to a high fat diet, but I can't argue with the results. Cholesterol isn't unacceptably high, and my health is much better (knock on wood!).

My only mistake is that early on, I was reluctant to eat fat, and I ended up eating way too much protein. You can search on my earlier posts regarding my kidney concerns if you want some insomnia therapy. Things became a lot better once I downgraded my protein consumption. The following guidelines were uber-helpful to me in straightening me out.

Best of luck on the cave man diet!

For years I worked with open heart patients. A lot of them had normal cholesterol levels. It's only one factor.

From my experience the most important factor is the ratio and triglycerides.

I am waiting results of blood tests which will show wether this new NSD diet has impacted my cholesterol which is high but my trig. are very low. Mostly from all the intense exercise I do.
