He is that, Miche. smile

You sounded much better on the phone this morning. I'm glad.

I love that my sweetie and your dad got to talk. He was hoping that would happen.

I haven't heard from him yet today, but am hoping to shortly.

Love,

Kat

I have been praying for all that are working to protect the land, marshes, beaches and all the little critters that live there. I have been worried because I read that some of the workers have been getting ill from the chemicals.

Be careful and don't overdo.

Hi Donna, yes, 8 workers were air lifted to hospital. Michelle tells me the illness is because of inhaling the fumes from the oil, with the chemical dispersants in the mix, you can imagine what those men are breathing. It causes a type of pneumonia that seems to go away, but it creates holes in the lungs, so the lungs fill up with fluid. It's pretty much fatal.

And now the top fill has failed to stop the 'leak' and they're going to drill relief wells to divert the oil. They say it will be August before these wells are done. Three months into hurricane season. Gee, do you think they should have drilled those wells before this one went on line???!

Three months into hurricane season for crying out loud. My friends, the people of Louisiana need help. Any storm that comes across the Gulf toward Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, but mostly Louisiana because they're closest and, frankly, they're already in crisis because of lack of management after Katrina and Rita. This is already going to ruin many folk there, but if this toxic mess is blown inland by the hurricanes...I shudder to think of the ramifications.

And six weeks have been wasted. Makes me want to howl with rage at the whole thing.

Warm hugs,

Kat

Yes and 2 more workers were air-lifted out yesterday and 1 more already this morning...I'm hoping it's not chemical pneumonia...I'll post an update on this later...

Couple of comments on the latest:

in Canada oil companies cannot go live with the primary well until the relief well is in place. Good thing to push for internationally. Also, they've been drilling the relief well the whole time. They didn't just start.

Agree about the potential disaster waiting
for hurricane season.

Thanks, Wendy. They started drilling, it would appear, at the beginning of Mayish. We're only just hearing about it now (big time anyway).

I'm glad to hear that about Canada, because that well off the Coast of Newfoundland, in deeper and much rougher Northern Atlantic waters, scares the bejeebers out of me.

Warm hugs,

Kat

Here's an update.

I just talked to my sweetie, who's on his way to Michelle's to relax for a few hours. He's dead beat and not sleeping well. But in very high spirits.

There are more meetings tomorrow, so can't comment on that. BUT...

He did end up going to the headquarters and demoed our film to some execs. Who were impressed. I won't go into too much detail, but suffice to say that the security guard at the facility took him to one side as he left the building and congratulated him on being the only person to arrive there with a technology not to leave in handcuffs!!! I don't know how serious the guy was being, by the way.

Also, he had a communication direct from Deep Water Horizon. They say they are going to give HE a proper evaluation!!!

As I said, more meetings tomorrow, so nothing firm or finished. But my sweetie said I could share this with you. smile

Warm hugs,

Sorry, I meant to say we've been short-listed for evaluation.

Still very encouraging.

Warm hugs,
