Hi there,Is it possible to get something like iritis, even if you are on humira?
Eyes hurt, not sure if it is just dry eyes and too much tv recently. Or some thing else. Thoughts?

Sadly Iritis often occurs with AS
It was a bout of Iritis in first one eye and then the other which alerted the doctors to a diagnosis of AS in my Daughter

Ansh:
Get to an ophthalmologist right away. It may not be iritis but there should be no risk and better to eliminate any question of this blinding condition.

When You get iritis--You will probably know it--the photosensitivity, extreme bloodshot, and hot ice-pick sensation is unmistakable.

Yes, people on Humira get iritis, but I don't know whether it is at the same rate as before the drug. The one drugs that has been proven to reduce severity and frequency of iritis is sulfasalazine.

Most likely, it is if in both eyes simultaneously, something related to the Sjogren's-like syndrome of dry eyes, but GET IT CHECKED OUT.

 HEALTH,
 John

i'd still push to get thee to an eye doc ASAP,
i've often been amazed at how much my GP misses, i'll go there first, he'll say he doesn't know or give a guess that is wrong, i'll push for the referral to the specialist, and often immediately they know and immediately give me the treatment that works.

my eyes: the rheumatologist said, "oh, probably just dry eyes, without even looking at them" but the eye doc looked in my eyes, did a simple test and explained blepharitis to me. seems like my blepharitis acts up if i don't drink enough (get a bit dehydrated) or am on the computer for too long without giving my eyes a break. if i'm good about those two things, my eyes seem to stay out of trouble.

I was just relieved that it wasnt iritis. Thanks guys! But eyes still hurt. Cant wait to get onto the ointment when i get home. | | |

i just have some drops for it, to remoisten my eyes.
was told to wash my eyes out as well, which i'll do when they're really bad,

but mostly if i stay hydrated and take computer breaks, i'm good.

Glad it wasn't iritis, but as I have found out, for me blepharitis can cause the same sort of symptoms as iritis. Check this helpful link out. I'm curious as to what ointment has been prescribed, is it an antibiotic? I find the baking soda wash a good treatment. My opthamologist here also suggested using tea bags as a compress. I think because they hold their heat a bit, and perhaps they're acidic enough to have the same effect as the baking soda... So, you could make yourself a couple of cups of tea and sit back and relax. Just be sure to keep off the eye make up in the meantime.

Thanks Guys! Brilliant tips, I shall try them very soon.
I got 'Chlorsig', it has chloramphenicol 10mg/g, to rub at the insides of eye lid at night. Pain is still there, hoping it goes away soonish
