Hi Sweetie!
How are you otherwise?? I agree with the others that you definately need this checked out, or there will be some nasty bruises happening!!
Are you getting enough calcium in your diet? I've heard that a lack of calcium can be a problem for muscle cramping.
How's your parents?
Take care, Laura

I have Amanda and it's getting worst with time. I'm now having pain in the knee and hip area. It's at a point now that i have pain in the calve every day and some day's are worst, there are really bad sleepless nights. The doctor tells me it's caused by the surgery i had but i don't believe him cause there are other people out there with the same pain and without the surgery i had.

Hello there!
Yes.....I get muscle cramps.....but I get them real bad in my sleep and if I walk a bit too much! As for falling.....I do that about every month or so......! Just get up to start a walkin' and kaboink@!#$$ Buggie goes face down!! Knees give out for no apparent reason. It was pretty scary when I was preggers!! I have had my knees checked out and of course everything is normal.....yet I've fallen down the stairs! I remember when I told this neurologist I once saw......when I told him I fell down the stairs he asked if I had been feeling depressed at the time!!!! [frown[ I could not believe it! I told him NO Doc......I wasn't depressed, I had just come from checking on my little girl when my frickin' frackin' knees gave out! Unbelievable!! As gets me down sometimes, but NOT that down!

Take care.....and try not to bruise yourself too badly!

Hi Angie,

almost 3 years ago i had 7 disks removed from my lower spine, during surgery, they pinched a nurve going to my right leg, since then, the pain in the right leg is getting worst and not getting better(he told me it would get better with time) little as he knows...lol. My disks are permanently fused and am very limited to movement in that area.

Hi Amanda!

I have had cramps in my calves and sometimes my thighs for years!! Also, my tendons in my feet will cramp up, sending my calves into spasm!!

It has compromised me on many occasions!! Including the early morning, when I stretch out in bed and then suddening convulse in leg spasms...imagine the ordeal....

Stretching is Good....I must remember that....AND an understanding partner....

Peace Y'all

Hi Amanda,

Yes - I have!! Unfortunately 'though, I have absolutely NO idea what causes it, so I can't help you, I'm afraid. However, I shall now read some of your other responses as I'm sure someone else will have!!

Hugs,
Sue

ladybuggie,
sounds like your knees going out is very similar to what I call my legs turning to rubber. You may seriously consider walking with an un-obtrusive cane. My rheumatologist thought I was crazy too when I first brought it up with him. Then he saw it hapen to another patient and did some research. Seems that it is due to a nerve gitting pinched and is very common with A.S. sufferers who have hip involvement. Falls can be devastating to us, and even though a cane can really be a pain to carry around every where, I have found that even a small folding cane can make the difference when it comes to stopping a fall. I just thought I would tell you a little more of my story cause I found that doctors statement to you to be quite inappropriate. Some people (doc's included) just don't get what it is all about. I saw 1 rheumy once who actually had A.S. and he made a large difference in my life. It's a shame that more rheumy's don't really know what it is like.

Somedays it just doesn't pay to get out of bed.

I had terrible pain in my calfs. I could not jump or walk fast. I felt like I was slowly dying. My sister-in-law told me to take iron everyday. I did and the pain started going away. I think my body was so low on iron that the muscles were seizing up on me. If you are not on iron, try it. I know it helped me tons.
