holy wow . . . you know what I did yesterday? (if you're on FB, you know . . . lol)

I tilled (by hand with a shovel in bad clay) and planted and watered vinca, mint, 4 o'clocks, morning glories, sweet peas, serrano chile, jalapenos, cucumbers, pumpkins, watermelons, hollyhocks, and gladiolas.

I took out a yucca (with gloves and a pair of hoof nippers). Those of you who know yuccas know how dangerous and painful that is!

I fixed the latticework all around the porch, and cleaned out underneath the porch.

I drove to town for food and rxs.

gardened some more.

then drove to the OTHER town the other direction to pick up a pizza to calm Cody's craving (he can't drive much anymore).

and I did 2 loads of laundry.

All in one day.

holy crappies.

I am flippin whooped . . . and it's raining . . . which is awesome for the garden smile but not so great for the Bridget . . .

but I'm sooooooooooooo proud of myself. and sooooooooooo happy with my garden. and sooooo happy I'm no longer drowning in that horrible flare.

life is improving! grin

I think it's my regular Spring energy, plus all the months of doing nothing in that flare all winter . . . I'm so desperate to use my body while it's feeling good, y'know?

Shoot gal - That sound a tad like you an me both... Been in the garden for past two days. Cutting back, cutting out, clearing away, taking debris down to clearance site, heaved bags of rubbish, hurt shoulder, screeched with pain at steering wheel... Dealing with the monster (shudder) vine weevel! Planting. Tidying. Planned a rockery. Dealing with chick-chucks - one of which had 'suddenly' learnt to fly...horrors: fly the coop no less. Clip flight feathers in the morn. Sigh.

Caught the sun a tad. Feel tired, but, 'nicely' tired. Love gardening. Fun.

Just taken my LDN - and so to bed.

Molly C (France ) night you guys...(that LDN stuff is *amazing)

Molly hun - yup, you and i both have the same disease! lol

I must know - what's a rockery, and what are chick-chucks? laugh2 From the sounds of it, they're your domestic birds . . . chickens? so many nifty little language differences smile Even though I inhale contemporary lit from GB like it's going out of style, I still don't know what all you're saying! My husband thinks I'm nuts with my books, I read anything and everything I can get from England, Scotland, and Ireland . . . he teases me, but then he can't even tell the difference between an English and Scottish accent . . . (this was very embarassing for me one evening at a party when some Scots were present! They commented on our last name . . . he made a "you're from England!" comment . . . blush2 He's learned more from ME about his ancestry since we got married than he ever knew before.)
I'm a bit of a GB nerd because of my Overly Canadian mum . . . she's taught me a lot, and she never quits about her "Commonwealth Cousins" lol

Bridget, I am really impressed. I thought I was doing good when I mowed with the riding mower. I have a dozen tomato seedlings waiting to be planted. At least I'm keeping them watered.

Hey Bridget!

I'm sooooo thrilled that you are out of that horrid flare!
You sure have been busy! Well done!

I won't ruin Molly's fun by explaining the rockery and chick-chuck mysteries!

I will say though, that your husband is not alone in not getting UK accents! I struggle to decipher any accent other than my own! I have not got an ear for accents AT ALL! It must be genetic! My husband tests me all the time when we watch telly and we always end up in stitches! I try to second guess myself and get it wrong all the time. The more I try to learn to recognise them the more confused I get! lol

I even managed to get mixed up with where you come from, Bridge, and you aren't even talking - and it is written quite clearly under your name! There is no helping some people is there? lol

Take care, you!

good for you! 1cup

my recent "gardening" consisted of buying a rosemary plant, and a lemon button fern, and a pretty yellow spring mum, all to be kept inside.

but after the threat of frost is over (may 1st), will get out in the herb garden and plant the annuals. a few years back, i got too busy to get out there til the beginning of june, and a few things i didn't think would come back, did, from the plants seeding themselves. in the beginning, it all looks like weeds, so now i'm more careful to wait a little longer. lemon verbena is the one things i remember surprising me. we also had a warmer winter that year, so more came back. this winter was mild too, so may not have to buy as much as usual. its actually amazing how much comes back: the mints, lavenders, catmint, oregano, thymes, sages, chives, tarragon, anise hyssop, lemon verbena sometimes. the only things i plant each year are the pineapple sage, lemon verbena, chamomiles, rosemary, basils, dill, cilantro.
