Hi Pluto, welcome, glad you came to kickas. Just curious, have you been to a Rheumy yet? With your family history, that's a no brainer. I hope you find some answers soon.

Hey Pluto,

Welcome to Kickas, glad you could find the site after search on HLAb27.

Pray all turns out well for you and can find some answers to the pain. There is much to take from this site if you stick around and ask questions or search topics.

Thanks,

Tim

Hi there and welcome to KA. smile

Never worry about long posts around here. There are one or two of us who go on and on and on and on and on. grin

Ah, so you've been diagnosed with 'it's all in your head syndrome', eh. It always amazes me how many people are diagnosed with this. Hmmmmm. These must be true idiots, as you certainly have enough going on that would cause pain, even without AS. That your dad has AS is very telling and no doctor should ever ignore family medical history. Idiots. grrr.

Hugs,

Kat

Hey Pluto;
Welcome, indeed.
I expect that of the many things we share around here, having been told at one time or another that 'it's all in our heads' is certainly high on the list!
Just the same, I am sorry to hear you're going through such silliness, and hope it clears up sooner than later.
Great bunch here. (and lots of us have verbose 'moments', not to worry)
Wishing you the best.
Tracey

I was told I couldn't be sick - and I tried hard not to be.

But no matter how hard I tried to "soldier on", I couldn't even get out of bed. The doctors told my husband I was faking. He left me. Now, I think he'd probably wanted to be rid of me, but man that hurt. I doubted myself, too. Maybe I just think I can't get up.

The doctors couldn't make sense out of my weird results, so they took refuge in "she's just crazy".

An illness like ASpa is often tricky. There is no certain test that proves the diagnosis for us, it depends on recognizing the pattern.

Hi Nancy,

I think your experience is not uncommon and is the reason that quite a few members of KA are angry at doctors even though there are also many "good" doctors out there.

I'm angry myself. And I'm sorry for all of us.

I've been lucky in my local GP who has been immensely supportive throughout. I was less lucky with my rheumatologists. The first was very dismissive, made a quick diagnosis (which turned out to be wrong) and promptly put my on prednisone. The second was extraordinarily rude and then sent my GP a report that was full of errors (must have mixed me up with someone else). The third was much better and I was satisfied with his diagnosis. However, he ignored my very high levels of inflammation and tried to tell me that my pain levels were caused by coming off prednisone. At the time I believed him but later it became clear that wasn't the case.

At the moment, I'm just working with my GP who is knowledgeable and helpful.
