Tinks post regarding breathing difficulties reminded me of this method for asthma control. Asthma and over breathing causes the levels of CO2 in the blood to drop, changing blood pH which results in the smooth muscles around the bronchial tubes (and other places) to spasm. The method aims to normalise breathing patterns, and many people find that they can reduce use of medications as a result. There are a number of scientific studies that back this method up.

Thanks for posting this Kurumi
I've finally got around to reading the links properly.

I like the way:

Quote:
Buteyko uses an exercise called the Control Pause (CP), defined as the amount of time that an individual can comfortably hold breath after a normal exhalation.

since this enables you to measure the effectiveness of the techniques being used.

My breathing problem "lifted" eventually and my energy levels went back to normal at the same time. Don't know what to make of that really. Blood tests came up clear. Oh well if it doesn't come back... I won't worry about it I suppose!

Hope you are feeling OK and well rested today.
