Hi gang, just wanted to pop in. Finally got the laptop and can spend a bit more time on the computer with you all. I have missed you all so much and look forward to catching up. The back surgery went well. Just had my PO appointment this week and saw my Rheumy too. Lots of info to digest and 3 more surgeries to get through sometime this year if I get up the nerve. Going to start PT again next week and hope some relief will follow.

Hey Cindy,

Nice to meet you. What kind of surgeries are you having? Is it all AS related? (I've only had my Dx for a year and judging from the pain and problems I have I'm guessing your answer is, YES!)

Take care!

I love your location: The cliffs of insanity, that's great. I think most of us here are right there with you. I've had AS for over 35 years so it's taken it's toll. Most "old timmers" such as myself, didn't have the new drugs or even a proper diagnosis when we were young. I've had, 2 back surgeries, 11 knee surgeries, a shoulder surgery. I have 2 more shoulder surgeries and another knee surgery comming up as soon as I get up the nerve to start up again.

Oh my gosh, that's a lot of surgeries. You are one tough lady! I have a hugely swollen knee that I worry about. Several months now and I can't seem to get it to calm down.

Due to my allergic reaction to the first biologic I tried, my Rheumy (and GP, and Gyno??) all agree, too dangerous. Nsaids rip me up gut wise soooooooooooooo.......... I try any and every alternative method and madness out there. It's either keep fighting or stay in bed and let my joints completely rust. I guess I'm not ready to admit defeat. Not that I'm tough, mind you. Within the past week I have prayed for death at least once. Obviously He said "not yet," and so onward we press.

"The cliffs of insanity" is from that movie The Princess Bride....."Inconceivable!" (with lots of spit, for added emphasis.)

I love the saying "that which doesn't kill you......." I laughed hard when the joker in "Dark Knight" concluded it with "only makes you WEIRDER." hA HA, SO TRUE.

Take care.

Cindy - Lovely to see you back here. Soooo glad the back surgery went well. That IS terrific news.

Saw a news item the other day, that a new non-latex surgical glove is out...woo-hoo. Should make life easier for the latex allergy people.

Take care me dear -

Hey there Donette,
Have you tried taking meds for your stomach with the super NSAIDS? Have you talked to an Orthopedic about your knee?
All of us with AS are tough cookies so hang in there.

Hey there Molly
Yeah, I'm one of those lucky ones allergic to Latex. Actually those gloves have been out for years and all medical practices including dental are required to use them. Hope you are doing better.
