Well crew! Looks like the big guy is headed for surgery. I finally received the official results of my Discogram and the BeeGees, and KC and the sunshine band voted for it with Gloria Gainer abstaining. So after some research, discussion with the wife and family and another sit down with Johnny Scissorhands I'm going for it.

I'm shooting for the end of March/first of April due to some previous obligations. The procedure is a routine L4-5 Posterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion w/ Pedicle Screw Fixation. All these years and I never thought I had a fixation for pedicle screws. Basically the doc is going to take out the disc at L4-5 and replace it with a bone graft and then put in a few rods and screws for good measure.

Looks like I can get it done under the wire and not totally hose up the summer. I hope.. So anyway, that's the plan as it stands now..Much more metal in this ol body and the wife will just sell Me for scrap, or some crack head will strip Me for the money..

Hey Chris! Hope the surgery goes well. Did they mention an artificial disc? I kept hearing that that was the next big thing. I wonder if we are a few years away. Wishing you all kinds of relief.

Nope, we're going old school..Bone graft fusion with rods and screws to hold it all together. Thanks for the thoughts!!

Wow, Chris! The best of luck with this. You'll be rivalling Alan for "the most metal in one body" prize. No wonder this is such a great site - all these bionic superheroes.

But seriously - I really hope it goes well. Keep us in the loop. We'll all be thinking about you.

Well, Mr. Stark . . . lol
oh Chris, I really hope this helps. End of March sounds pretty good for timing, you should be feeling pretty ok by the time BBQ season gets into full swing! I had a surgery March 3rd once, it worked out well except I didn't have any warm clothes that were comfy with the incisions, so I was wearing summer sundresses and freezing my patoot! lol
I've gotta go hobble to the store, see you in a bit *hug*

Thanks for all the well wishes!! I hope this gets the wheels back under me. I'm tired of all the stumbling around and broken toes.

Bridge, I'll make a mental note about the clothes. Not really sure how I would look in a sun dress though. Do they make pretty ones in a "Moose Medium"?. I mean if I'm goin' "drag" I'm gonna look hot!! tongue3 Boy that would mean a lot more than just shaving a little patch of back hair..We're talking weedeater or Nair in a garden sprayer! Unless there is a Sasquatch style sun dress. I think a mu-mu may fit my physique better! shocked2

It looks like April Fool's Day is the big day. 1cup

I'm shooting for being the first to short circuit one of those new body scanners at the airport..I'll probably blind the Security people monitoring the screen from the glare.
