If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I have been feeling horrible lately. My hands shake, I can't think straight, I'm dizzy, and disorientated. I went to the hospital yesterday and they think my blood sugar is to low. I was wondering if Humira had something to do with it or if I just have another problem on my hands. I haven't been on here in a while, Hope everyone is doing okay.

Hello Astrid Sounds like you need to keep your blood sugar level on an even keel. Have you tried eating little and often? I find on NSD I try to eat something every couple of hours BEFORE I get a chance to feel all faint and fuzzy in the head. Good idea to get checked out by professionals as you have done. Hope you feel better soon!

Doing good up north Kelly! Sorry to learn of your new difficulties. I haven't heard of Humira affecting blood sugar levels but I am not qualified to say for sure.

Wait! Have you recently tried the NSD? That made me feel terrible on about day three. That is why I quit the program.

Hi Astrid, I don't know if Humira is the problem, but the solution is eating 5 or 6 small meals, spaced evenly throughout the day. Also, carry an apple or some other fruit with you so that if you get that shaky feeling, you have something to tide you over until you can get a proper meal.
I'm hypoglycemic and this is the only way I've found to combat it with any success.
Hope that helps.
Hugs,
Kat

concur with the several others that talk about eating frequent small meals to regulate blood sugar better. diabetes runs on both sides of my family and i am now prediabetic / somewhat insulin resistant. and used to have so many of the symptoms you described in relationship to not eating, getting hungry. always thought it was blood sugar, though in more recent years, have read that hunger can also trigger migraines, which i get, and in another post someone commented that migraines are a total body experience (how true). in either case, in college, finally made the connection and started "grazing", eat a little bit all day long, here and there, a number of smaller meals, spaced much closer together. the other advantage to this, if i'm constantly eating "meals" (real food), there is less opportunity to eat "snacks" (junk food). and i always, always carry food with me! an apple, an orange, a small piece of cheese, some nuts, popcorn, a carrot, a kashi bar, a packet of tuna, some combination of these things.....been eating this way for at least 25-30 years now, and the only time i have the kinds of troubles you describe is when i mess up and don't do as i've just described.
but i don't have diabetes, have never been checked for hypoglycemia (though i did fail the fasting glucose tolerance test, just by a little bit though), and don't know anything about the connection between humira and blood sugar, other than what i've learned from listening to kevin describe his experiences.

I am Hypoglycemic, I went to the doctor. I usually eat small meals all day but I guess I was eating the wrong things. Thank you for all the support! I will take all the advise I can get. I need to know what to eat and what not to. Plus stay low on starch. Thank you again! Much love Kelly

I once had a girlfriend who was hypoglycemic, I think. Hypo is when you need to have something to eat to get your blood sugar up while Hyper is having too much? It's like that "starve a fever and feed a cold" or whatever, I always seem to mix those up.
She also went through terrible mood swings right around 3pm. When my suggestion that she "go have a snack" blew up in my face, I just made a point of having snacks around the house...lol
I have no idea whether biologics affect blood sugar? I suspect they or some other meds causes a rise in certain liver enzymes, that much seems clear. I will get nasty headaches if I go without food for too long though.
Interesting question though,
Chris
