Just thought I'd be polite and introduce myself, having just found this site I will just sit on the sidelines and get a feel for it first.

Brief history: 34 yrs old, have AS officially for 4 years but reckon it started about the age of 22?
Currently on Humira (about a year) and showing amazing results, I have my life back and some may disagree but I have managed to reverse some of the damage done to my spine, pelvis and ribs.

Rgds
Kenny

Hi Kenny & Welcome,

It sounds like you are on the road to helping heal yourself. I have had AS for 18 years now and after all the Drs, drugs, money and meds am on Remicade and it has been the first thing besides prednisone to make an impact on my life.

Just dive right in you have found a wonderful and caring group of people.

Hi Kenny and welcome to KA. smile

The biologic meds can be like a miracle, can't they. I've been on Remicade for 4.5 years now and it not only gave me life back, it gave me more energy than I've ever had. If I'd had Remicade for the 20odd years pre-diagnosis, there's no telling what I could have accomplished! The Remicade is wearing down a bit now, however, so I'm looking to make the switch to Enbrel. Humira will be my next option should I need it.

I'm glad it's helping you.

Hugs,

Kat

Hello Figjam!

Welcome to KickAS - hope you enjoy being here!

I see you're from Scotland - hope you don't mind me telling you a little anictdote (don't get too excited, I'm not known for my story-telling abilities!)

I am also not known for my accent recognition...... I come from the South-East of England and can't really distinguish any accents North of the M25!

Whilst in a supermarket in France I heard someone speaking English (with a super strong Scottish accent) and to my husband's horror my opening sentence was - "So what part of the North do you come from?" It was his and my husband's exchange of looks that was so funny - they were clearly thinking "What planet is she on!"

As promised, that really wasn't a great story!!!!!!! lol laugh2
