Molly,
Can you get Stevia in France? In Germany it can't be sold for constumption, but you can get it for 'cosmetic' uses... Maybe it is some EU thing?

And those are fab pics of the big cats.

Hi Kurumi - How's you hon? Dunno about Stevia in France. Have no cause to call for it... But will find out as am now intreagued!

'Could' be a EU thing, as 'they' are into trying to stop all kinds of herbs and supplements etc etc. Baddies under the bed (vested interests). Is there room for another SIGH today? <LOL>

Glad you liked the cats.

We keep frozen wild blueberries in the freezer year round, and copious amounts of fresh when they're in season. We put them in oatmeal (along with raspberries, strawberries, cranberries and peaches - my sweetie calls it our stir-about) and on ice cream. I have a juicer but am a tad intimidated about using it. eyes

I can't stand Stevia. It's the taste. Makes me think of Aspartame. Blech. The sweetness is all wrong for me. My best friend and I first tried it at a Whole Foods Expo. The guy was giving away glasses of lemonade made with just lemons and stevia. It tasted like aspartame and I was completely turned off. Blech. I use raw sugar instead. You can't buy completely raw sugar, but it's not half as refined as white or brown sugar. It tastes richer.

IMNSHO, anyway. smile

Warm hugs,

Kat

hey kat,

my favorite for taste is honey. also like the "raw sugar" for its crunch, especially when i make my fruit crisps.

and do agree with you regarding stevia...to a point....when i first tried it at the level they suggested, i could taste it and like you, hated the taste! ....but then i tried using less of it, just enough for the sweetness to come through and not the taste, and now it is a fine alternative.

being insulin resistant and becoming more so all the time, and how sugar is in everything, any place i can cut it out, important for me to do so.

if you don't need to cut sugar out of your diet, then not to worry, but if you want to give stevia another try, just use it very very sparingly.....though for some things, like lemonaide, can't imagine that anything other than sugar would do.

Hello Molly, one of my co-workers was turned onto stevia by a mutual friend last year and he now swears by it. Thank goodness, as he's in his late 50s and badly needs to lose weight. But that's neither here nor there. He keeps trying to sell me on stevia, keeps a small bottle at his desk. Perhaps I'll try a small amount in coffee here at the office to see if you're right about the amount making a difference.

I'll keep raw sugar at home, however. Just love the flavour too much to give it up.

I'm with you on lemonade and sugar - accept no substitutes!! grin

Warm hugs,

Kat
