If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

The best shoes I've found to give me arch support and lots of room for my poor, tender toes are Keens. Luv 'em.

Hey tink - i'm a bit on again/off again on here but have to say this place has saved me from losing it. I have 3 kids as well - 10, 8 and 4. I'm lucky that they're able to fend for themselves when i'm in a bad way. I'm doing NSD and still hoping for the remission, but can't seem to quite get there - not gonna give up tho. Stories like yours keep me keepin' on! Hope you can achieve it again. take care, mary cay

Hi Tink...Great place isn't it? I've found myself lost for hours reading threads where this gang gets going on and on about very interesting and intelligent stuff...and very funny, inspiring stuff. Inspiring and informative, indeed. Enjoy!

Hey Bridget I'm working my way down the list of new friends and have come to you (your PM box was full!!) Thanks so much for your lovely, friendly message! Firstly, I am blown away that I've met someone from Texas! That's so cool! When my AS went into remission my (then) boyfriend (now husband) and I decided to sell my flat in England and go travelling. We started in France - as I have family here - and then 2 weeks later I found out I was pregnant! So we decided to stay! And here we are 3 children and a wedding later! Your family look so cute by the way! Your baby is a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e!!!! I'm not on facebook or anything like that.... It seems a bit scarey and exposing!! Here feels nice and safe! My flare is not too bad today - I hope you soon feel better too. What does "htbl" mean? I'm so new to this stuff!!!!!!

Hi Tinkerbell. Welcome to the board. I know another Brit who now lives in France with 3 children from a different forum. I have AS in my feet and will soon be trying on shoes in a store that I can't afford just to see what works. I just shoveled a 10 foot path of snow from the front door; I think that was 10 feet too much. I hate not being able to do those little things that most people take for granted. I'm sure you understand.

Hi Tink and welcome to KA. I'm curious, the restless feeling you get when sitting. Have you noticed a pattern to this (i.e. when you are over-tired for instance)? Or is it related to what sounds like sciatic nerve impaction (pain down through buttock)? Reason I ask is that when I'm overly tired, my legs get restless and sitting still becomes almost painful. Not painful in an AS sort of way, more in a "dear god if I don't walk soon I'm going to go out of my mind" kind of way. I had a sleep study done several years ago and they found that I have Restless Leg Syndrome. I've had it since I was a child, run marathons in my sleep. My legs keep moving and waking me up. I'm now on meds that help this, but still, in the evening, if I've overdone, it can be truly uncomfortable. Just wondering. Hugs,
Kat

Hey Craig
Thanks for being my friend!
Sorry about the AS in your feet - it's not a good place to have it is it?
When my feet were all totally red and swollen and in total pain - I have to say I couldn't wear shoes at all. I couldn't bear anything to touch my toes and feet.
When I HAD to go out I bought some slippers with tough rubber soles (to try and combat weather conditions and pathways!) I got some very strange looks shuffling along!
One time I went out to a bar where there was a strict dress code. The doorman was cool and let me when I explained my situation, but when I got inside a guy came up to me and said "how come I get turned away if I wear jeans and you can get in with slippers on!!!" I must say I was pretty mortified!!!
Sorry, back to the shoes - since my recent flare up I bought just some normal trainers (sneakers) that were a very wide fitting at the front and just keep the laces really loose all the way up. Honestly - they are not THAT comfortable but they're better than anything else I have. I kind of walk awkwardly to avoid too much pressure on my big toe (this is the one affected at the moment). Sorry this isn't much help! Especially if you have a job where you wear a suit or something.
Look forward to talking to you again soon.
