most of my life even as a little boy i have always had a bad habit of finger nail biting.
i would use at least 1 packet of band aids strips a fortnight to stem the bleeding and the applied pressure would take away the stinging sensation. I was just looking at my finger nails now - they actually need a trim eek2
could this be a side effect of the NSD?

So, if I follow this correctly, you're wondering if the fact that you've apparently stopped biting your nails is a possible side effect of the NSD? I'm very curious: Just what is it, exactly, that would make you even suggest such a connection?

I think you're making a rather large leap in cause/effect logic there to surmise that suddenly eliminating starch from your diet would for some reason cause you to stop biting your nails. Or am I simply missing the humor in your post and the whole thing was intended as a joke? If the latter, sorry, missed it completely.

brad,

you've also missed the connection between NSD and a new found affinity for willie nelson and the urge to swim with sharks! darryn has been making quite a few new discoveries lately....

im not really surmising anything, im just telling it how it is from my experiences of late. only thing i've changed is diet and all these personally reported discoveries are what im experiencing. I couldn't really sit down and explain my metal health because id just be doing myself more harm than good trying to explain something i don't understand - the complex working of the body, mind & soul.
I can see my finger nails and a full packet of unopened band-aids sitting in the medicine cupboard. i seem to have no more desire to bite them - not sure if its the diet, lack of brufen, my new found awareness of germs and bacteria or divine intervention??? humpty

i can still remember mum used to paint my nails with disgusting tasting stuff as a kid to try stop me doing it. that didn't stop the habit - just kept chewing them.

*i also had a very abusive, alcoholic, heavy smoking father as a child up to the age of 12. he used to work for mobil oil measuring the evaporation of those massive concrete structures that hold the fuel. He used to use me as his personal human stress ball - bouncing me off the walls. Maybe its no more nail biting because i feel smarter, stronger than him mentally & physically now and lost my personal fear of him. (we haven't spoken for 10 years+)

i have made attempts to reconnect with him a few times over this period but he uses financial Sabotage tactics to eliminate any possibility of us ever having a meaningful relationship. (nice to my face - evil behind closed doors.)

Hi,
Maybe going on the NSD was like having a 'wake up call' given to you, since it is doing well for you? Or maybe the improvements through NSD is also improving your subconscious thoughts due to having less pain and stress? Just a couple of guesses.
take care,
James

i think you are right about this. about 3rd or 4th night of no starch diet i had a really bad nightmare around 3 - 5 am. in it i was smashing everything around me trying to destroying the walls the doors, tv, furnishings, fridge, cupboards - everything in my way in a huge fit of rage and anger. first time for many years id been able to sleep for more than 3 hours without waking and doing the old horizontal washing machine spin cycle to try get back to sleep.
