If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Yes I have tried other things, but Kamut is my only wheaty friend! That being said, I think I have a higher starch tolerance than most. Kamut is very high in fibre and protein... thats really my only clue as to why it works for me.

Hey friends!
I ended up figuring out that I can't tolerate sugar in addition to the starch. I'm feeling better and better each day now.
I'm also being careful about the dairy too. I've got to beat this paralyzing flare I'm in.
Thanks for all the great food ideas! They are great!
Take Care.

Good work figuring it out. I think many of us have figured out this same thing. I had to eliminate all dairy too, even fruit for almost an entire year, and nuts cause me big problems as well. Alcohol (beer) and even a little dark chocolate has become a problem lately. Dried fruits usually OK in strict moderation now.

Thanks everyone for your input. It was great to read through all the posts again and get more ideas. Reading this reminds me that I can keep doing NSD.
So I've been no starch, no dairy, no white sugar except dark choc and fruit for a while now and still pretty bad off. I was craving sweetness yesterday and so I had some dark chocolate, a handful of craisins and 2 small clementine oranges as my lunch, and a slice of apple after dinner. With the cravings (I only want fruit) I'm suspecting candidiasis, so today no fruit and no chocolate.
I have tasted a plain cranberry before, SOUR! But my favorite little craisins are soooo sweet, there is probably quite a lot of sugar added to make them taste so good. I bought mine in bulk so I have no ingredient label.
today's fare:
breakfast-water
lunch-lettuce wrap sandwich with chicken, bacon and real mayo. snack pumpkin seeds
Dinner-probably roasted chicken and raw baby carrots.

Hi Donette, A Burger joint here in Katy called Moo-Yah does great icebergers which are burgers with cheese and bacon (if requested) wrapped in iceberg lettuce just perfect.

George that sounds really good. I had an un-wich at Jimmy John's last weekend. It was a sub on iceburg lettuce and they wrapped it up tight. I liked the crunchy iceburg lettuce. I wasn't missing the bread a bit. I even felt full!
Hoping I'm okay tomorrow, I had walnuts for dinner! Strange.

Hi Donette,
Sorry, you're having trouble. I know what that's like. I had (still have) a hard time figuring out what sets me off. I don't think it's always food. I think I am just still healing. I'm pretty sure that walnuts set me off though. The two times I tried them I went into a wicked flare. That was when I was still flaring at everything though, so I'm not really sure but I haven't been brave enough to try them again yet. Just a thought.
Hang in there, Annette
Give praise for what you have and keep working for what you want.

I saw my chiropractor friend and he told me that my ailments appeared mechanical i.e. he said I was bound to experience a period of adjustment.
I am like you Annette, I have gone full NSD and no dairy. I am introducing leafy vegetables this week and maybe okra. I was that strict i.e. only blanched almonds not even pine nuts. Judging by your food choices you are doing really well.
Anyway I was a little down about things but I reckon we may just have to be patient.
In the meantime I am sorry to hear you are flaring. I am convinced we are all doing the right thing.
Good luck.
Today I ate:-
Breakfast...2 eggs omelette made with coconut cream washed down with 250ml of prune juice Lunch...mackerel and boiled spinach with apple cider vinegar dressing Snacks...coconut flakes Dinner...prawns, lettuce and spinach leaves with apple cider vinegar, flaxseed and olive oil dresssing. Drinks...ahem...3 beers.

I "think" I did okay with the walnut dinner. I am feeling a centimeter better each day. Also I notice if my digestion/evacuation slows down without a "movement" for several days then I don't improve at all. I am eating very little, so it stands to reason I would "go" less, but I don't cherish the idea of stuff sitting there for days letting the klebs feed on what it may. Any hoo, raw carrots for dinner last night and things are moving right along . Less pain/stiffness too. That's no coincidence, I've tested it too many times to ignore. Thanks for mentioning that other things can set us into flare mode. We've recently dipped below freezing again, I'm pretty sure I FEEL that! I've also tried to de-stress as much as possible. On the whole, since AS, I worry way less about other stuff. It's remarkable how "hands that don't function" reset your standards/priorities. It brings new meaning to the phrase "It's all good."

Hey Keith,
I'm thinking "healing time" is important too. This disease is like having many injuries at once that get reinjured every night while sleeping. I wouldn't expect a bad 2 year old sprain to heal over night either. I'm giving it as much time as it takes. I think it is getting easier.
I broke down and with my 10 yr. old daughter's help, made my famous homemade breadsticks for the family yesterday. They haven't seen those in 8 months! It wasn't hard to resist, and my habit of throwing stuff in my mouth without thinking is broken.
Question: what about corn syrup in soda? I wonder if that affects us from a starch point of view. And do any of you chew wrigley's gum?
breakfast: piece of bacon lunch:chicken salad (mayo, pickles, lemon juice) dinner: the inside of a carne asada burrito: steak, tomatoes, onions, cilantro
snack: nsd choc cake made with agave syrup instead of sugar.
