If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

i just read two more genes have been identified that are associated with ankylosing spondylitis. These genes are called ARTS1 and IL23R.

ARTS1 has now been renamed ERAP1 since this article was published.
Researchers in Australia point to IL23 variants as being predictive as to how severe AS will be. ERAP1 is getting the most attention in research now.
The first IL 23 drug is now on the market for psoriasis and the first IL 17 drug is in trials for AS in Europe as I type.
No families take so little medicine as those of doctors, except those of apothecaries.

The association of genes ARTS1/ERAP1 and IL23 were discovered and published in March 2007. On January 10, 2010, information about the discovery of two additional genes, ANTXR2 and IL1R2 as well as two gene deserts, was published. The TASC gene study also confirmed the previously reported gene associations (ERAP1 and IL23). http://esciencenews.com/articles/2010/01....form.arthritis

Thanks Stormy for posting that e science update.
ANTXR2 gene codes for the protein ANTXR2 that stands for Anthrax Toxin Receptor 2. ANTXR2 is also called CMP2 (capillary morphogenesis protein 2) Deleterious mutations in the gene encoding CMP2 are the cause of Juvenile Hyaline Fibromatosis (JHF) and Infantile Systemic Hyalinosis (ISH), autosomal recessive diseases characterised by multiple subcutanoeus skin lesions, gingival hypertrophy and hyaline deposition. Of interest CMP2 also functions as a cellular receptor for anthrax toxin Anthrax is a sporing bacillus (Bacillus anthracis) famous as biologic weapon, re 9/11 period, when it was posted as white powder to a number of ?politicians.
Quote from the Nature Genetics Paper "A functional explanation for this association (CMP2) with AS is not clear"
Dx Oct 2006 B27+ undifferentiated spondlyarthropathy (uSpA) with mild sebhorrhoeic dermatitis and mild Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) controlled by NSD since 2007.
