I don't understand why these Doctors think it is ok to yell and talk to me like I am 5. I am more than 5 way more than 5.

I am ready to change doctors because of they try and make me feel like everything is in my head.

Hugs,
Donna

well, i always say they treat me like a 12 year old, so i guess i'm doing 7 years better than you grin2

but seriously, i know.

i started taking my husband to doctors appointments a year or two ago, they are more careful with what they say, but it doesn't really change the outcome of anything.

but must add, some are great though: physiatrist, podiatrist, endocrinologist. if only they were all like this.

i've debated the changing doctors thing. have been trying to do so as far as a GP is concerned but all the ones that are recommended are not taking new patients so i keep trying.

and the rheumy, sometimes you have to work for a doctor for a while so they can see what is going on, but a year later, and i think we may have hit the end of what he is willing to do for me....but first will have him send my packet off to NIH....then will decide.

fine balance between "doctor shopping" and knowing when to move on....

Hey Donna,
I hate hearing stories like yours, where doctors treat people like they are crap, and talk down to them. There isn't any reason for a person to have to take this. Like we stressed here on KA years ago, the doctors work for US! Not the other way around, we pay them, so if they can't show respect then you have to decide is this doctor worth it.

I would sit this doc down and have a good heart to heart with him/her and stand up to them. I have had success in having all of my doctors on a conference call just to get them all on the same page..MINE! and to either work as a team or hit the road and I'll ask the team for a referral to a doctor that will play ball and will work with us. All of My doctors copy each other on their reports when I visit one of them, that way the whole TEAM knows what one another is doing.

Take care of yourself first and foremost!! Do whatever you have to do to get the results that you are looking for.

Have a GREAT Holidays!!

Donna,

You are a feisty woman. I know, I met you back 100 years or so. Do not allow them to talk to you that way. Bring your husband or a friend with you to the appt. Hell. If I can get there, I will go with you.

Eric had a pedi GI doctor that we stood in the hallway of his office, toe to toe and had a rather heated conversation. He was trying to just rush through the appt and not answer any of my questions.

When it was all said and done....it was the best GI doctor that Eric ever had. Once they realize that they can not speak to you or treat you like that...they usually back down.

Good luck.

Thanks all for the messages I think it is time to find another doc. I was about to change in July and had to go to the hospital and he was very good so I stayed so now I think it is time to go.

Love you all,
Donna
