just hubby and me and mookie, good company in my book.

will have some friends over at some point, they have 4 young ones. we're kind of their adopted aunt and uncle. kind of makes up for family being so far away.

had my research students over for dinner already, that was really nice.

we had talked about going to the bahamas and having a very nontraditional christmas since i am on sabbatical (not teaching, supposed to be doing research) but then i hurt my back at the end of the summer and that changed everything. need to be patient though, can now drive in the car for 10 minutes without ice without too much of a setback, so i am improving...... hopefully within the next year or so i'll be able to travel again.

so this year, just another quiet peaceful christmas.

Probably posting on KickAS....

But seriously, my three grown up children are all coming home for the first time in several years (there's been one absent for a while). There are three little ones between them (aged 4, 2 and 5 months) - my granddaughters Sennen, Cadence and Talya. Sennen is staying with me for a week between Christmas and New Year because her mom (my daughter) has to work and daycare is closed. So there won't actually be much time to post on KickAS!

I'll be wearing my warm jammies and slippers in a robe, drinking hot chocolate with my girls opening presents (which I haven't bought yet) in front of our giant tree (which isn't up yet).

Other than that, it will be pretty much the same old, same old. Hopefully, we'll all get out to take the dog to a sea-side park nearby a couple of times before my daughter has to go back to school in the New Year.

Oh, and dreaming of Alan of course

I'll be doing Christmas dinner for the first time! It will be a chilled out day, lunch with family and maybe catching up later with friends. I'm hoping for a White Christmas, but with blue sky and sunshine on the day itself... that maybe a tall order, I can but hope. smile

Christmas sorta starts today for our family. Its the lovely Diane's (my wife's)birthday. OUr tradition is that no matter what day her birthday is, we do not work and we shop together for her birthday gifts and some trinkets for the girls.

This year that includes me learning to download MIley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Michael Jackson and SpongeBob SquarePants songs into three separate IPOD's. So far this morninng not going to successfully.

Later (its snowing like crazy here) we always go to her favorite restaurant outside of Red Bank NJ.

Christmas Eve is with family in New York. Christmas Day is here at our house so the getting ready starts tomorrow. "Cousins Christmas" when my brothers kids and my sister in laws kids get together with my girls is December 27. Every other year it is in BOston this year it's in NY. THat's my favorit e day. I just sit back and watch the young ones get along and their grandmother, my Mom, seems to be the hero of the day. All girls and one boy so they gravitat toward grandma like she's a rock star. Oh yeah Christmas is her birthday too

Two days after that we head off to Hershey PA for a Christmas/ New Years Eve get together with some friends at the Hershey Lodge. Diane started all of these little traditions for the family and the girls when they were 1 and the pictures from year to year are a marvel.

SO the next 12 days are chaos and joyous and family filled.
