If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Jeanne,
How much (e.g. number of ounces) of that rejuvelac do you drink in one sitting? Do you follow Bee's instructions?
Kind Regards, Jay

Er,...I don't think you'd find me eating popcorn chicken... Can't think why Carol Sinclair would be saying this is OK....although there are no %s mentioned, I'll bet it's more starchy fillers and chemicals than *actual chicken*. Chicken (rib meat!) is listed as the greatest % of any *single* ingredient, but that sure doesn't mean that they are "mostly chicken"! Hiya Ankush, as Inky says, you are mistaken. KFC is not OK on either LSD or NSD. Maybe you'd better check your book again McDonalds burger patties are OK. Jon eats these...throws away the bun. If you are eating this much starch in your diet you probably wont make very much progress in improving your AS symptoms. Even on Low Starch rather than No Starch all grains must be eliminated...and especially no wheat. All the best Chelsea

I drink 1/2 cup, 3 times per day (with each meal). 1/4 cup goes towards making the next batch.
I follow bee's directions EXCEPT, i do not cover the jar tightly. it needs air, and will not ferment properly if sealed tightly. i use a very large mason jar, 1/2 gallon size, and you can just cover it with cheesecloth (or if you have a screen lid for wide mouth mason jars, usually used for making sprouts use that).
i pretend it lemonade, without the sweetness, and drink it when i am done eating. it works.

hey friends,
I am doing anti-biotic therapy (4 days now) eating no starch and experiencing what I hope is a herxheimer reaction. Only eating pepitas, sliv. almonds, craisins, chicken, pears, tangerines. Very little food. Hoping pain/stiffness abate soon.
Also taking diatomaceus earth since yesterday.

I'm new to this and really confused. On the list of foods to avoid on this site it says to avoid coconut but I'm reading coconut flour everywhere as being ok. Also apples, some people are recommending a 3 day diet of just apples to start but cooked apple is listed as bad. Where do I start? Also, is almond flour ok? If so does anyone know any English stockists as I can't find anything on the web. I'd be grateful for any advice, I've had AS and RA since 1983 and now my sons are looking like they have AS so if a low starch diet helps I'll try anything. My condition is very aggressive. I've ordered Carol Sinclair's book is it good? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thankyou

Hi Libby, Welcome to KA. Sorry to hear that you have the double whammy of AS *&* RA. The clever techies here are in the process of setting up a special RA forum, with the lovely Wendy as the moderator, so watch this space... WRT the coconut and apple dilemma, I will let John (Dragonslayer), Chelsea (Kiwi) or some of the other 'long timers' answer that. Personally, I can "do" coconut and some apples. There is the odd variety of red apple that tests starchy with iodine, so I just know to avoid them now. I use almond flour in my baking - I buy it from the local supermarket where it is sold (I'm in OZ...)as "ground almond meal" rather than labelled as a type of flour. It is with the other packaged nuts and dried fruits etc... Keep asking questions - remember that the only Silly Question is the one that you are embarrassed to post - nothing you can't or shouldn't ask here - we are all in this together! Louise

Hi Libby and welcome, sorry it is very confusing at first, but it will get easier the longer you are at it. Keep a food journal, write down everything your eat, drink, etc. Keep record of your medications and supplements and your pain levels, where your pain is, etc.
We all have different tolerance levels, and we also have other heath issues, that can be affected by what we eat. I also have a chronic candida issue, which causes me pain throughout my body, so I cannot tolerate sugars or nuts, so that includes the coconut and almond flour. Unfortunately, most apples I've tried are starchy too, so I just avoid, as there are plenty other good fruits for me to eat. Citrus is too starchy, bananas and plums too. Be careful with imported fruit of a low quality. Fruit should be picked when ripe, so shop at your local farmers market if possible.
Your best bet is to not trust the food list, but trust the iodine, and listen to your body. Avoid ALL processed foods. They can contain starch, even though it is not listed in the ingredients, because it is in such trace amounts, they are not required to list, yet it is enough to cause an AS flare.
Unfortunately a low starch diet doesn't help, its NO starch. Carol Sinclair's book will be very helpful so it is good that you already ordered it.
