Hey, David P:

The primary difference between Carol's books is the latest one has a foreword by Professor Ebringer and just more recipes along with communication from others with IBS found to have primary AS.

If sugars are a problem, it could be that candidiasis is the underlying condition; often the trigger factor for AS with gradual onset.

Suggest the book by Zampieron, et al "Arthritis: An Alternative Medicine Definitive Guide;" it has some natural anti-candida ideas although I have been told by people that their best approach was just to give in to the anti-fungal drugs and they finally broke their fungal infection. The spittle test might be of some value, but it should not be considered definitive. I would just do as much as I could in the natural way first but the true anti-candida diet is the only diet more difficult than NSD.

I don't eat bacon, but do have plenty of fresh fruits and raisins, also.

HEALTH,
John

Thank you to everyone for their support. This website is awsome and very helpful. I have not had any xrays but had a MRI on groin area last year in March that did not show anything. One more week till I see the rheumatologist, so hopefully I will be sent for more tests and given strong drugs to stop this pain. At the moment I am using cream/gel and mersyndol at night time. I have been on holidays from work for 1 month but go back tomorrow, so I think my extreme pain will kick in tomorrow.

Thank you for the link to the stretches and exercises, they look good, but will wait for medication first, as I was doing stretches after going to physio, but this was hurting my back and hips.

Can anyone help with something to give more energy? I am having multivitamins, but still feel I have no energy.

When you bring your inflammation level down (with meds, diet or fasting on water) your energy will come back up. I have been using large amounts of the B vitamins and they help a little. But the fasting on water brought me from needing 11 hours of sleep or more and still not feeling rested (for the past 2 years) to needing 7 hrs. instantly. Wow. Now I'm not fasting, just eating the no starch diet (nsd) and I have maintained the energy, so my inflammation levels must be staying down.

Good Luck.

Alot of nsd'ers have to customize the diet to suit them - like cutting out dairy and sugar, even in Sinclair's book she admits to doing much better after cutting out dairy, but this comes later in the book I believe and many of her recipes have dairy. I also do much better when i cut out most of the sugar. If you can tolerate coconut flour it's a good baking option instead of almond flour.

A recommendation on this site is to start out with meat and salad greens and then add foods back one at a time, keeping a food diary. good luck.

Luckily I kicked AS completely with sunlight, milk and walking. No pain/stiffness/swelling and not on any meds/diets.
