well, i haven't stood outside barefoot in the snow.....yet,
but have noticed that now that the weather is a little cooler,
my feet hurt less from my walk and have wondered if the cold helps????

Naw doesn't seem to bother them at all. They love chips and hot salsa too.

don't know about dogs, but birds don't have the taste receptors for "hot" and so they just like the taste of the hot peppers without the burn. we used to give our bird dried chile peppers to munch on until i developed an allergy to them (the peppers, not the bird)

Wow, my association with oleoresin of capsaicin has been very painful. Now I am reminded (again) of the wonderful feeling of it in my eyes, mouth, nose and all over my face. This is the active ingredient in pepper spray! I have been hosed down once, and the second time it was applied to my eye with a q-tip; this was a requirement to be allowed to carry it in a Law Enforcement (LE) capacity (old life, never again. Not only did I lose any desire to continue in LE, my AS would never let me do it anyway). Never did figure it out why, they never shot me with a pistol to allow me to carry it! On the notes about allergies, that is why my agency quit doing full face sprays. Apparently a couple of people had severe reactions after getting sprayed in the face. Although, it is still carried and used. I personally think that the risk of severe reaction is enough reason to stop using it on the public.
Word of advice: If you EVER touch your eyes or face when you have capsaicin cream on your hands it is the same as getting sprayed. Baby shampoo works wonders for getting it out of your eyes and face though.

Ha ha ha! Oh my gosh. I can't imagine taking a shot of pepper spray to the face!

Hi snipe chief, gotta say, read 1st part of your post and uhh...well I had to wonder what deed you had done to be blasted w/pepper spray Thought you might have been on the other side of LE. I'll bet the concentration in pepper stray is a wee bit stronger than the capsaicin cream but hey...you just gave me an idea (.15% is for wimps). Think I'll try shooting pepper spray on the SI joints & will report back...

Wouldn't be the first "alternative" use for pepper spray I heard of... One of our less mentally stable guys would spray it on food as an alternative to Tabasco.
He also had access to "inert" cans (also for training) and would randomly pop out and send a stream at your face (you only hold still and take it ONCE! After that, you make wild gyrations and contortions to avoid getting hit by any part of the stream). I should have known it wasn't the hot can, but remember the part about his mental stability?
As far as what deed had earned a shot? I was never caught! I have fond memories of plenty of occassions I could have experienced it, but guess I was lucky

my rheum. recommended this cream to me a while ago but i never tried it...i'm definitely going to pick some up on my next trip to walgreens. just wondering if i should sleep in a bio-hazard suit so my better half doesn't wake up burning!!
