Hi guys... just wanted to ask if nsaids had caused any extra pounds/kgs to accumulate..I was under weight before my dx in dec 08 skin and bones 65 kg which wasn't good.. could never put on weight either... but in the last 10 months have put on 15kg (33pounds) and it doesn't look like slowing up.. My feet and hands are also swelling during/after excercise which sounds like fluid retention which could be the nsaids.. if so would i change meds... i'm on naproxen. Any ideas/experience.? I've gained weight on corticosteriods and on anti-depressants but, so far, nsaids haven't done that to me. It sounds like it was a good thing at first but now you'd like it to stop.

i can not take nsaids or cox2 inhibitors due to edema (fluid retention). the fluid retention makes all my inflammation 1000x worse. naproxen was one of the ones that did that. ashame too because it really did help the inflammation considerably.

Folks, I've been on the NSAIDs for 14 years and any weight gain I have is 95% due to eating too much junk unfortunately!! It's nice to have another thing that I caould possibly blame though. Now where did I put that chocolate.... mmmm chocolate

noticed i should have added, if you notice the fluid retention (as you say you do), fluid retention i think is the same as water weight gain......

Hey Rob,

I've found that I gain weight when I'm feeling better. I'm fighting Crohn's Disease, and when it's rearing it realllly ugly head mad I lose weight, but when it backs off smile , I gain it back.

But you should listen to Lon, I have it on good authority that he is tight with Santa Claus, and no one knows more about weight gain then Santa. HoHoHo. laugh2
