I've lost two kilos (4.5 pounds?) in a week and a bit on the NSD.

My weight was pretty much optimal - 75 Kilos or 165 pounds - before I started, but it's just falling off. I had my wife check the scales, but yeah, she still weighs the same.

At this rate, by Christmas I will be able to hide behind lampposts.
(Why is the weightloss industry worth eleventy billion dollars when all you need to do is cut out starch and you're on the express train to skinnyville?)

But seriously, I'm a little bit concerned. I'm eating lots of bacon, corned beef, steak, cream - traditionally fatty stuff, but I'm rapidly getting thinner.

Will this just be an adjustment that tapers off, or will I have to start being on the lookout for rainwater drains lest I fall through and be washed out to sea?

Your weight will stabalize. Eating healthy is always a good thing. Just because the scale says you are in optimum weight, doesn't mean that is true. You are probably losing pounds from an unhealthy colon/inflammation/water retention/hidden internal fat, etc that is being released. You are probably not losing muscle.

And it takes a bit of time to get all your body functions/glands stable too once you get the offending foods out of your system and your body learns to function without it.

Hey, be happy that you can lose weight! My body is not willing to release fat, no matter how healthy/no starch I eat! If you really, really want that pounds back, I'll share some of mine!!

Hi, Shane:

Yes, it will just be an adjustment during transition to fat/protein-burner but it would be best to help maintain some of the reserves. I suggest eating something sweet after every meal; this is the reverse of the Atkins' proposal to skip dessert but in Your case it would be good to take this treat. Our ad campaign from company Jell-O: "There's always room for Jell-O!" Of course I say there's always room for the souffle Grand Marnier (ok chef--leave out the flour...souffle grand meringue...)!

bon appetit,
John

Shane,

I went through a similar experience. I'm 5'9" and prior to the diet, checked in at ~157 pounds. I probably bottomed out at 127 pounds! But my weight has definitely stabilized around a 133 pounds and doesn't fluctuate too much.

In hindsight, I got in a lot of trouble when I started worrying about the weight, and tried a knee jerk reaction to increase my already high protein consumption.

Just make sure you get plenty of non-starchy veggies as well, and you should be OK. I think that as I get better and my body begins behaving more normally, I'll be able to put on some muscle mass and will experience some healthy weight gain. Until then, the most important thing is controlling the inflammation with the diet, and making sure I'm getting enough nutrients to allow my body to heal.

Best of luck!

Freddie

Your take on the weight loss industry had me laughting out loud. And it is soooo true.
Ive never been skinny before and have people now asking my secret. Most agree to stay fat than have AS but most are intrigued by the NSD.
No advice from me as im at the same stage as you. Keen to know your results. PM me if you'd like. Ive done specific carb diet then LSD and no results on either but a week into NSD fully strict and im quietly confident.
Happy eating

bad stuff this weight loss. After 6 months of NSD I went from 170lbs to 138lbs. My friends thought I had cancer. I had no energy and looked like hell. Since I had only seen a marginal improvement on my AS I went back to LSD and have stabilized at 155lbs now. I feel much better and the AS was about the same.

I was eating a lot of protein (fatty) and vegetables but I just kept losing weight. I just couldn't digest the fat or protein very well. Foe me, with some obvious digestion issues of protein it was an unhealthy experience. I went to a nutritionist and had her look at my diet and she said I should not be losing weight as I was taking more than enough calories. I just couldn't digest the stuff.

This is happening to me.
Ive done the specific carb diet for 1 month then the LSD for a month (no help to pain levels) and now NSD for 1 week and have lost too much weight. (feel less stiff and better movement)

I am fairly sure I can not have sugar, honey or too much fruit. Im wondering how to approach the "have something sweet" idea.

I feel like my diet is so restricted and Im not sure what to eat next. Eggs, tuna, lettuce and celery are the only things im definately sure of at the moment. Im intolerant to nightshades (tomato, capsicum, egg plant)

I am going to explore the digestive issue too. I know I do not digest well but seem to crave the meat as Im losing weight. Was taking digestive enzymes but they are choc-full of starch so stopped once doing NSD.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It could be the disease. I flared and I was on the LSD. I lost 19 pounds (my cell coverter says that's 8.6 kg.) in a month. I couldn't eat much also (I think the NSAIDs got to me). I have heard ppl loose weight rapidly with the aekins diet which in some ways resembles the LSD. I wasn't trying to loose weight( I mean 5 lbs or 2 kg would have been okay )so now it doesn't look good. But I'm not loosing any more. I have leveled off. Now I have to put a few on but I'm hoping it will come with proper nutrition and an ending to this flare. Inflammation does burn calories and energy.

Smezma, I feel like that too. I notice that I feel better with out dairy but I ignor that because with the NSD I 'm not ready to give it up. I hate being scared of food. I feel like some weird horror movie. Like the one where plants made ppl kill themselves and they had to be scared of the trees. The guy found himself talking to a rubber plant saying please don't hurt us. I look at food and say please don't hurt me . I test with iodine and I say to the food please be okay don't turn black, I'm hungry .

That's so sad! I read a lot of really moving stuff on this site but that little passage was so poignant.
