What are some of the components (fillers, building blocks, hardeners, solidifiers, etc...) used to create medications? This is any medication from vitamins to prescripts.

Any of them starch based?

Aspartame, nutrasweet, lactose, glucose, stearates, thimerasol, aluminium, astaxanthin, gua-gun, gelatin, glycerin, beeswax, water, carob, dextrose, cellulose, talc, glycerol hypromellose, stearate magnesium, E172, E171, amidon maise, silice colloidale anhydre, citric acid (natural preservative), spearmint, potassium sorbate, maltodextrine, monostearates glycerol, polyethyleneglycol -

And LOTS more ^LOL^ Thousands of buffers and fillers and all the rest of the mountain that they want to/need to get rid of... And of course stuff that is necessary to 'carry' the drug (Thimerasol and Aluminium and ALL artificial sweeeteners are UNECESSARY. Should be BANNED from ALL use.)

Thanks Molly. That is a heck of a list. Some are definitely questionable as far as LSD/NSD, and some do need to be eliminated from the mixture.

Aluminum? Isn't that linked to alzheimer's disease? Sheez....Going to take a lot of time to figure out the fillers in my meds.

What is up with the pharma industry? Seems like they're driven to generate return customers through their process. Causing me to be more and more leary of a very powerful industry driven by greed and profit.......The legal drug cartel.

I guess these all don't contain starch! But I bet talc does and is probably why it gives me trouble. Faith

Talc is magnesium silicate which is definitely not starch.

The reason for all of those fillers is quite literally to hold the medication together so it will be in the form of a pill that holds together.

The web pages for each medication contain information about what fillers are used.

If you want to take a particular medication and can't find a starch-free form, a compounding pharmacist should be able to make it for you. I've worked with an excellent compounding pharmacist who has made starch-free meds for me and other specialty meds.
