I saw a TV program which showed how apples imported from overseas into India are actually waxed to make them look deliciously shining red and last longer.
I tried it on the apples i bought the other weekend for my one apple fast and scratched the surface with a knife to see loads of wax.
Just wanted to check if this is something that people outside India have experienced too and is it advisable to consume such waxed apples.
Also, inspite of being aware, i did not starch test them at the time, as i was out of iodine.

All of our fruit here in America is waxed too! Oranges are not that orange! LOL!
