Found the perfect martial art for AS. Wing Chung...WOOO HOOO
You dont need to kick high, or be very flexable. I suggest people who have the itch to try it.
Keeps your posture very straight.

Thanks for the post. I will look into it. Have you ever researched the Alexander Technique?

I have done karate before (a very long time ago). At the moment I don't do anything, but really crave some exercise. I see you do yoga. Are you able to do all the poses? I have tried that, but was very tired afterwards. Guess I am so unfit at the moment. Do you know Callanetics?
Take care

I tried a form similar to this, and I kept getting slapped. After an hour of this, I decided to take my chi elsewhere.

Let us know your progress!

I am off and on with the yoga love affair. Poses are hard but I modify. I was surprised how good I felt, so soon. I was just using regular stretches and my wife insisted I do yoga. It is way better. My theory is just dont push it, let your body talk.

Hi,
Can you compare a bit more between PT exercises (stretching) and yoga. What are the asanas performed by you. Is the teacher knows about the desease and explains.
Regards.

I do not do martial arts but I do fire dance with something called poi. I have been doing it for 4 years now and I am not going to let AS slow me down. If interested check it out on youtube....astrid21zna9 or prometheus productions on myspace.

I used to train in MMA (wrestling, boxing, kickboxing, jiujutsu). This stuff is like body conditioning + technique so it's actually quite hard on the body, I would be soaked in my own sweat from the top of the shirt all the way to the bottom.

If anyone's trained in these types of gyms you'll know what I mean.

For the ODDEST reason, this actually HELPED my AS. I could actually eat like a normal human being (within reason) and not have flareups afterwards as long as I went there about 3-4 times a week. We would get slammed on our backs, have sweat dripping into our eyes, and fall asleep as soon as we got home from all the workout... Very very weird. I think maybe I did enough exercise to complete clean up the inflammation.

I was shocked to find this post allowed on KA. After all talk of marital aids is hardly appropriate. As such I find myself unable to comment beyond this reprimand.......now where are my specs.....!
