If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

In the past 6 months, morning has been getting bad and a hot shower does wonders. Unfortunately, that effect doesn't last. Getting up from a chair bothers my hip and the first several steps are limping. As the steroid shot wears off over a number of weeks, limping is almost constant and is my reminder to return to orthopedics doc. Pain levels don't remmind me as much since there is pain all through most other joints, too. Most pain towards the end of a night at work....in feet, calves, hips, low back, mid back and fingers. Can't wait to see if the SSZ is going to work.
Short version...hurt more at night.
DX: Psoriatic Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Psoriasis Meds: MTX since Oct 2009, 15mg/week. Cimzia-restarted after 2 yrs away. Epidural Steroid Injections x8; Lumbar Radiofreq Ablation x2 SIJ Steroid Injection x3; Bilateral Radiofreq Ablation SIJ x9

The longer the day goes on, the more I have to use my hands and feet so the worse they feel. Same for my neck. My lower back pretty much feels the same all day.
I'm glad you did this poll, it's nice to know the literature is wrong!

Before my AS dx 9 months ago, my mid-back pain was always worse in the early morning hours started around 3 a.m., and I could not sleep anymore. But after I got up and moved around, then the pain got better but still felt all day long. For my hip/sciatic nerve pain, it was all the time. It actaully got worse when the day ends...

Hi Sonja,
Normally, when I take treatment for AS, I have morning stiffness, and then later in the day I tend to hurt the most.
When I don't take or do anything to treat AS specifically, which is what is happening now, my morning stiffness lasts most of the day, and I get nearly as much pains in the morning as I do later in the day.
Take care, James

Sonja, I experience my worse pain in the late afternoons and during the evenings. I take Fortfen capsules (like Voltaren) at night and I think that they work till afternoon and then it is time for the next one! Take care

Hi Sonja,
I'm worst in the very early morning. When I first wake, I can't bend my knees or curl my fingers (to make a fist) because of pain and stiffness. It slowly improves through the day. If I sit or lie down for long at any time during the day, then standing up and moving is tough - the longer I'm still, the worse when I start to move. My best time of day is afternoon. I can get sore and tired in the evening if I've done too much.

Sonja,
The question is 'when is your pain the worst? Morn, afternoon or night? To which I respond "YES"!!
Seriously now, I am all about Keven right now!!
You take care now and just be honest with your docs! I think doctors should have two additional courses they must take and pass: penmanship and common sense!

Hmm... its an all day/night rotation for me, but lying down is the most sustainable, so sleeping is ok for about two hours at a time... sitting twenty minutes at a time, driving twenty minutes, standing twenty minutes at a time then exhausted and have to lie down!! (insert EXPLETIVES), I'm only 32 (insert EXPLETIVES). Starting Enbrel soon so hopefuly that will be a miracle cause it's all a (insert EXPLETIVES) joke of a life right now. Sorry to be grim. One of those days. Do you take pain meds...? I'm only on NSAIDS at the moment but feel guilty asking rheumy for some "stronger" gear!!

Hi rob Welcome to KA you should never feel guilty about asking for stronger pain medication. If what your taking is not having an effect and you dont tell the Rheumy he wont know that you need it increasing. And dont be sorry for being grim we have all been there and all go there this is a good place for letting it out every one understands we all need to have a rant.I hope you are taking stomach protectors with your NSAIDS that is inpotant.
