It is basically the Hay Method which focused upon proteins, the trick being that proteins digest very slowly while starches and sugars are digested too rapidly and if you combine them there is trouble. The trouble with starches is that, if they get eaten with slow food (protein), there is too much time in the tract so bacteria use that time to multiply. The book is not anywhere near the level of Carol's, but it does propose some methods which worked for the author. Other people can control their symptoms with sunlight and milk, ignoring diet, but all that proves is the diversity of AS presentation amongst patients. In my opinion, once too many NSAIDs have been taken it is almost necessary to go strict NSD until enough healing has taken place that less-strict methods might be attempted.
