Hey all!! In an effort to redeem myself from my wimpy-ness I must tell you about my 2nd self inflicted shot!! Last time I did it in my thigh and had a major hissy fit about how bad it hurt. This time I did it in my stomach, dried the alcohol, used ice and just stretched my stomach skin (3 babies, okay) and viola! It hurt less than a mosquito bite! Not kidding. I am so happy. At first I was trying to pinch my stomach to make a hard enough area to push and unlock the sure-click, but then I stretched it and it worked like magic. Yay, happy day. BTW, my doc is having me take celebrex 200 mg 2x a day with it (just until it has time to show its full effectiveness) and I'm still feeling pretty good, I EVEN exercised yesterday it felt so good.

Take Care all, and thanks for your words of encouragement!

I am 5'9 130 lbs when soaking wet, so am pretty skinny. I alternate sites each week: right thigh - left thigh - left tummy - right tummy. They all feel about the same. Tummy might hurt a little less, but it's close. I use the pen.

I am pretty sure that the reason my thigh hurt so bad is because I did not know to let the alcohol dry first. The pain I felt was a STING. I think being less meaty might be to your advantage. I have lots of meat and still couldn't find a good place!! Honestly, where is a good place when your talking about inserting a needle??
Don't worry about being thin, it is a subcutaneous needle, meaning short, versus intramuscular (long). The trick for me I think was doing a tiny stretch of the skin the make it firm enough to unlock the sure-click. Piece of cake, I just hope I can remember that in 7 days!!

Good luck!!

When I was really thin, I didn't have alot to stab either. I sat on the couch and grabbed a good fold of skin on my tummy and injected into that. No problem.

Thanks Megan, its a load off my mind knowing that I CAN do this, especially since about $5000 worth of the "stuff" is sitting in my refridgerator!! Yikes.

Your post reminded me of something - someone on this site once suggested to me if I was going to keep that much med in my fridge, I should make sure my insurance covers it. Just in case there's a power outage or something. It would suck to lose months of feeling well!
