we should make a group on facebook for only KickASers.. that way we will know its us and not some crazy person.. no idea how we would only allow kickASers into the group...

I know of some groups on Facebook that are by invitation only so if you ask if you can be a member then who ever sets it up they can let you in. It would need to be someone on here who is pretty familiar with everyone here. I can see what I can do if you want. I think that is a great idea.

Hugs,

Lisa

That's exactly right Lisa. From what I can tell, it is actually pretty easy to set up new groups on Facebook, and I would imagine that while setting up the group, you probably just have to make a choice of private or public for the group to determine if folks can get in automatically or have to be approved by an administrator. Only thing is, you need to find someone willing to be the group administrator. Not a huge job, in general, but with the way things go at FB, I can actually see a lot of interest in a group called Kick AS, and I'm not talking the good kind of interest. With 900 billions users (ok, I'm exaggerating a tad), a name like Kick AS, or AS Kickers, is going to draw some fairly aberrant folks, I believe. If someone dives in, might want to pick a more benign name then circulate that name here at KA--that way, only folks you want to find it should actually find it. In theory anyhow!

Good luck if someone does this. I am quite active in Facebook, but I'm afraid I'll have to bow out of being involved in setting up a group. This is in no way a statement on how I feel about anyone here at KA--seeing as I love y'all--but I decided a while ago to keep my KA life separate from my Facebook life. That's a decision that might change in the future, but for now, it's just something I feel more comfortable with. Believe me, has nothing to do with the folks there not knowing I have AS, as I shout that from the mountaintops to anyone who listen, to new and old friends alike. I think more than anything it's because I don't want my non-KA friends knowing about my KA life. And no, that's not because I am ashamed of KA or anything like that. Just the opposite, in fact. The simple fact is, I have opened up here on KA far, FAR more than I ever have before on any website. I've told more of my deep, dark, and VERY personal secrets here on KA than I would have ever dreamed, and beyond that, I've talked about feelings that folks outside KA would likely never understand. So, in reality, I'm not keeping my "outside" life secret from AS kickers, but rather doing just the opposite--keeping my KA life secret from folks who just don't kick quite as much AS. I know folks have to be a member to post, but anyone can drop in to read. and I use my nick here in my two main email accounts, meaning I would be instantly identifiable. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that a few friends lurk here already, but if that is true, I know they are some of my dearest friends in the world, and that wouldn't bother me. In fact, I already know that someone who is very special to me pops in here from time to time, and she's even joined as a member. That said, my Facebook account is a definite blend of some of my closest friends and friends who I only vaguely know, once knew very well (25 years ago in high school!), or, sometimes, don't know at all (if they run a group I belong to, for example).

More than anyone really cares about, I know, but I didn't want to seem like some kind of anti-KA Facebook snob!

Brad
