If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Magnetic Device Studied As Treatment For Heartburn And Acid Reflux http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/140051.phpSurely do welcome this one. It's a devil of a condition to cope with, but this new treatment surely looks to be not only effective but non invasive when compared to other interventions as in the fundoplication techniqies. IF mine gets any worse, then would certainly consider this new method. Molly C

this does look really promising for the worst cases of the disease where the esophagus becomes quite damaged, as that can lead to esophageal cancer.

Thanks for this, Molly! With my damaged oesophagus, I'm happy to find material like this. I'm printing it out for my doc.

Oh, that is great Wendy; glad it has hit the right spot with someone. Must say the other night I could have done witb it myself - hate that awful feeling as though one is going to chuck up... (Will be glad when I get to see a gastroenterologist here.)
(I also sent the info to my sister-in-law. She has terrible GERD, has had for years and am sure she is headed for Barratts. But she won't get herself to the doctor. Sigh.)
Let's know what your doctor opined, would be interesting - and hope that you can sort anyways.

Treatment? Proton pump inhibitors. Which are tablets... PPIs do have side effects, like IF osteoporotic, then not such a good idea as can exascerbate osteo problems. Can Google up GERD and the treatments. Nasty little miss to have. Heartburn, food regurgiting or feeling like it is about 'to' regurgitate. Acid/bile in the mouth. GERD acidity can harm the throat etc. There are alternative treaments for GERD, one is organic cider vinegar. Again, can check out with a good Google. Hope that helps - but do run past yr doctor. Never leave yourself in doubt when you can check it out. OK? Molly C

Alternatives: lot of people swear by a slice of apple before bedtime helps them. I also find that fresh cooked apple puree with plain yogurt helpful. Had it last night and TG didn't have that blasted GERD waking me up and making me feel as though I was about to chuck up...!

my husband takes prilosec daily (proton pump inhibitor) and for a long time was taking mylanta at bedtime. he's also had the scar tissue in his esophogus repaired every few years since the early 90s. now the GERD is controlled enough (mostly through the meds, and watching what and when he eats) that the esophogus looks good and he even stopped the nightly mylanta. now its just prilosec, and watching how he eats.

Thanks for this info Molly! This is something I would definitely bring up to my doc. After 3 surgeries you would think I would be problem free, but I still need to take nexium everyday and still deal with awful symptoms now and then.
Thanks again! Hugs, Lisa
