Embrel was a nasty drug but so were all the other one's they have tryed Methotrexate (hives oh well you better not take that it might send you into antaphlatic shock after 3 months of telling them wow you really acted fast on that one) So then came Embrel started to get sick cold bronckitis then I got a cold sore and I have never had one befor I got enough flem for them to test and I had Staff in my lungs. So we did IV antabiotics and I now have to be on oxigin full time. If you want people to do a dobble take see a 34 yr. old mother with 4 kids and what we have named Wallieo draging behind me. My Rummie stoped all test, meds, and visits untill I can get it undercontrol. Now I have been told he is the best in my area, but my genral Doc. takes care of most of my issues. But I did get into a Kick butt Puminary Doc and she is a hoot love her! She is all about getting with my rummie and getting a plan. Anyone else have lung and heart issues? Love to here from you, just want to now what to expect.

BsyAND,
I am sorry to hear you have had a time with it.. I had good luck with the Metotrexate in the past. I am not sure why my Rhuemy did not want to go that course again.. I figured it was b/c Enbrel was safer. I know I have not been ordered to have blood test all the time like when I was on the metho. so I am just assuming.. Funny you talk about a cold sore. I am someone that does get cold sores from stress and fevers. After my 4th injection I caught a crazy cold and a sore on my lip. I am feeling better. no signs of infection sinus or respiratory the sore on my lip is finally scabbed over and healing so I will be taking my 5th injection tonight.. I hope that is a good idea.. I have talked to the help line and my Rhumeys office.. They all said as long as I don't have an infection to take it if I feel like it would be ok... I just wish there was a sure fire way to alert you if it is a bad idea or ok to take it.. No one wants to give you definante answer. I am a bit lost. So I am going with no fever take the enbrel. Does that sound crazy. I hope you are feeling better soon..

Peace,
Tamara

I don't get cold sores, but I noticed multiple mouth sores ever since I started the Enbrel. As soon as it started (the day after my first shot) I began taking L-lysine, 1 to 2 pills, morning and night. Since then I may feel the start of a sore but they never develop. It is also supposed to be good for cold sores so you might try that. Good luck!

Thanks, I recall my Dad saying something about Lysine. He suffered from mouth sores too.. He had battled CA on and off for 30 years up until about 7 years ago when he passed. I am sure that the Chemo and Radiation facilitated those sores at times. I forgot about that.. Thanks again!

For me the results were nearly immediate. Huge reduction in stiffness, pain, and FATIGUE.
I still have flairs and such but quality of life is much better.
It's a "MIRACLE DRUG' for those of us who respond positively to it.

That's great news! I took me about 2 weeks to barely feel it doing something, and 2 months for it to get into full swing.
Enjoy!
