Hi guys. I have done no starch for 2 days and feel awful today...tired, a bit spaced out, and a bit low. I assume this is some sort of detox reaction....if so how long does it usually last? Thanks

Hi yes absolutely a detox reaction. Even though I am doing only the LSD as opposed to the NSD, my first couple of days on the LSD were awful. I had sinus pain, headaches, sore joints and trouble sleeping.

I have kept a food diary since I started and have found this really useful for monitoring reactions. It took a month on the diet for me to write 'starting to feel good '

Yesterday I tried a piece of shortbread I had made (all the Xmas baking!) which was divine but not long after I had sinus probs and felt yuk. So I know for sure now that I'm best sticking to the diet.

Even tho I'm HLA B27 negative, I have found I feel a lot better on the LSD. I still eat bananas and dairy as I'm ok on these but avoid all flours, pulses, rice, and potatoes.

To get over the detox reactions you could try dry skin brushing prior to having a bath with Epsom salts and essential oils, and drinking lots of water.

What have you been eating? Are you eating enough?

The quality and content of the food you do eat is just as important as the food you don't eat. Maybe if you tell us what you are eating, we could offer some suggestions.

I can confirm the first few times I did 3 days of apples I felt the same as well. If it gets to be too much, probably need to stop and can do more frequent shorter apple fasts (1 or 2 days).

I don't recall having that reaction when I started NSD, I hope it doesn't last long for you. Are you hungry? Are you eating enough? What types of foods are you replacing your starches with? Try to increase whole foods; meats, fruits and veggies in place of starch. Eat a good portion of each, not just more fruits. Not so much the dairy and sugars either. Avoid all processed foods. Try eating some organic unrefined coconut oil for energy and digestion.

Rest and take it easy, listen to your body. We need more rest to heal. Try a relaxing hot bath with 1 cup epson salt and 1 cup baking soda. Maybe some herbal tea. Avoid caffeine.
