I am sitting here trying to compose a bit of a tune but have the musicians equivalent of 'writers Block'. As such I thought I would meander around the net for a while. I have had AS a long time and it has harmed me a lot but I have never really delved into it much. I have done tonight.

Have looked at pictures and xrays and read articles.

AS is pretty devastating isn't it!. It decimates the skeletal structure, everywhere, and by god it does hurt.....and yet

Oh Alan's off with bachache,

oh Hes limping on the other leg today,

huh, can't make his mind up where he hurts,

obviously faking it..........

hello you spastic..!

Have heard and had all these things said to me at one time or another. Odd at my age that I have never looked deeply at AS but,

I am proud to have it, proud of all of you for having it and particularly proud, that every one of you/us, most times, gives this dratted thing the elbow....

well done all

sorry a bit of a silly ramble but there you go

one last thing, I read an article by a doc in Washington.....wow...the Dragon would have been on fire and rightly so

AS will only last 10 years

AS hardly ever affects women

(Watch out the ragon may be about) NSAIDS will control and cure the disease........what!!!!!

etc etc

well sorry for waffling on

yay for the kickers

You're right! We are brave. Brave and amazingly positive-minded even with all the suffering so much of us deal with. It's a wonderful group, and it's great to know that you've all "got my back," so to speak. No pun intended. Oh wait, it was.

Good luck with the music.

Waffles are great.

Yes I think we all our brave and have to go thru alot with this stupid illness.

So would it be safe to say that YOU could be our first poster child for AS, going out in public and stripping like you do....I kind of like a man that is naked with a limp to go along with mine..lol

Hugs,

Lisa

Yes, we are a brave and caring bunch and I am proud to be one of you. I find myself thankful for the diseases I have because they have gotten my priorities right. They made me figure out what is important in this life and for that I am thankful. Also if it weren't for autoimmune diseases I more than likely wouldn't know any of you and I am so thankful for you and the positive things you bring to my life.

I was so pleased when I was so upset when our daughter was diagnosed with Arthritis/Lupus and she said, "Mom, don't worry. I don't. I know how to live with it because I have watched you all of these years." You never know who is watching and for what reason but I am thankful that I traveled the road first and checked out the ruts and bumps and ditches and the smooth highways few that they be. She does know they are there.

Thanks for this post.

Blessings.

My father (who refused to use a cane when he needed one a few years ago because he thought it made him look weak or old or something) saw me with my cane awhile back and commented "That doesn't look good." My immediate response was "It doesn't feel too good, either!".

I'm not necessarily proud to have this disease, but I am proud of the way I've managed to live my life & hold my head up high (figuratively & still literally!) in spite of it. Heck, maybe because of it. On deeper reflection, perhaps I AM proud I have this disease as it's allowed me to try to be a little less judgemental of others. It's encouraged me to live each day, each moment, even, to the fullest I can. It's allowed me to appreciate those times when I'm not filled with pain. It's allowed me to appreciate the beauty in life much more than some who take good health & life for granted. Gee, thanks, Alan! I AM PROUD TO HAVE AS!

Possi, you are an inspiration. Thanks for being so...you!

I often think of the hard parts of life as the edges against which we make ourselves keener or sharper. Without those hard parts...oh no, here comes a cliche: life would be dull. Or rather, I would.

What about "it is all in your head" and "you are too young to have arthritis".

Yes, a pretty resilient group, thanks for the post.

Tim

BTW - I saw an animated movie with Rats last night (Flushed???)... Roddie was the main character and the rats lived in the sewer below London. They were all football/soccer fans and watched England play Germany in the World Cup final... England was up 3 to 1... but went on to lose in penalty kicks
