If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hello everyone,
Good news, I guess, that my rheumy told me that my bloodwork and x-rays show that my AS isn't very active right now. So, they will keep me on the regiment I am on now, inocin and pain meds. Well, what is good about that is that my AS isn't very active; the bad thing is that my pain is still "in my head" Oh, well. I hope this finds you all well,
Daniel

Well Dan, it could have been worse. They could have told you your AS was all in your head, instead of just your pain. I'm glad to hear you're doing well. Many hugs,
Kat

Hello Dan
Good to see you, hope life is good for you.
It is indeed very good news that your AS is not very active at the moment, long may it last. I hope the meds you are on continue to keep it that way.
It is sad that so many people have unexplained pain, I hope you find a way to control yours.

Hi Dan,
Good to see you checking in... sounds like a mixed blessing if you indeed do have pain.

Well,
I went into the ER twice for my abdominal pain. They told me that the narcotic pain meds that I take, both for my AS and my abdominal pain, backed up my GI track, making me full of Sh!&. LOL Well, since I really can't stop those meds, hopefully I can cut down on the abdominal pain liquid, if I am able to get my GI moving faster, but the AS pain isn't controled by NSAIDs. My plan is to cut back on the pasta and cheese, eat more fruits and veges, and take stool softners, as well as, and maybe a laxitibe every month or so. So, I hope this works. Well, thank you for all the support, and comments. I hope this finds you all well, my friends,
Daniel

hi daniel,
ok, so this might get a little graphic, but i have some experience with going too much or not enough. usually its too much and too loose and undigested food if there is a problem. but for the last month or two, well, its been the opposite, to the point of discomfort, and worry. and i'll talk to the doc if it doesn't turn around soon.
this is what i've been doing that is allowing me to go every morning again. though i have to sit there longer. and it no longer looks like little rabbit pellets (most days anyway):
i have psyllium every morning and night. i don't buy metameucil or other brands that contain all the sugar or artificial sweetners and flavorings and dyes or whatever. i bought a big thing of plain psyllium years ago and it lasts forever. they tell you to put it in liquid and make sure you drink with plenty of liquid. i drink it quickly but really don't like the feel as it swells. i've found gatoraide or putting it in applesauce and then drinking the recommended amount of liquid to help. i also only do 1/2 dose but full amount of liquid at a time so its not so gritty.
i use psyllium because it firms up the loose stuff and loosens up the hard stuff. and its very natural. and it works in both ways.
i also make sure i drink plenty of water throughout the day.
and i eat tons of fruit and veggies and beans (if not NSD). beans help me a lot: all kinds of beans and bean dishes.
also, i wanted really high fiber food, so i looked at all the labels. most fruits and veggies are only 10-20% per serving. same with most whole grains.
my husband eats fiberone (i think). it has around 60% of his daily fiber.
i on the other hand have been making sure to eat dried figs (i'd eat fresh ones if they were available, awesome). each fig has 10% of my daily fiber, so i eat about 3 of these each night as well.
i tried prunes (my mothers solution for me when i was growing up) but they mocked me....very little in the way of results this month.
but the figs, now they are a winner.
and of course, if you really don't eat much fruits and veggies and whole grains, then starting with that by itself first (along with plenty of water) might do the trick all by itself.
