I put my whole flaxseeds through the coffee grinder. I make a NSD breakfast gruel daily that was posted a while back by Karen_The_Lioness. I alternate between that recipe and a mixture of the ground flax, shredded coconut, honey and almond milk. They are both quite delicious.

Kind Regards,
Jay

I may have missed this info reading the posts and if it is here, forgive me.

My dr. told me to put the fish oil and flax oil capsules in the freezer and you wouldn't get any bad tastes and burps. It works. My daughters do the same thing. It gets far enough down before it thaws to make you taste it.

She told us to start at 1000 mg. capsule of Flax Oil once daily for a week, then twice daily for a week and then 3 times daily. She said to add the Fish Oil if we wanted to.

Hope this helps someone.

Blessings.

Janet,

I'm now on Enbrel again (since February) and that has the inflammation in check. I'm really still taking them now out of force of habit. I'll still keep on taking them for the other reasons too. As its helping with my cholesterol. For a big guy, my cholesterol is amazingly good.

Thanks,
Glenn

hi janet,

took my first fish oil "horsepill" (they're gigantic , thank goodness that my aunt who had been a nurse taught my mother how to put horsepills in applesauce), and thought of you. i bought the oderless ones ("controls fish burps" they say). no ill effects, not that i expected any. i figured, i'll build up my level, see how it goes along the way.

Hi Janet,
I have been taking liquid fish oil for over a year now. At least 7 grams/day 5 times a week.
I highly recommend that you read the "Inflammation Zone" by Barry Sears He explains in scientific detail the inflammation cycle and why omega 3 oil helps. I chase the oil with flavored fizzy water or lemonade. the acid cuts through the oily fish taste.
bottoms up!

Janet,

Each time I have tried it has been just shy of three weeks before I end up giving it up to get my gut to calm down. I normally give a supplement at least three tries becuase I never know when the IBS or colitis will flare. I may just try the flax seed oil to see if my body will be able to handle it. It is common for some odd reason for vitamins and supplements to cause me problems but I never know what will happen until I give them a try.

Hi Alecia,
Thank you for the info on the book. I have taking omega 3 's off and on for the past twenty-five years. I actually corresponded with the Rhuematologist who did the first huge double blind study way back in 1984 in Boston. I went off them the past ten years do to cost and I was controlled well with phenylbutazone, but now that I have developed hypertension I have seriously taken many steps back and have gone back with the omega 3's .

Hi
Be very careful when taking cod liver oil. The amount of Vit A when taking a dose to meet the Omega 3 fish oil doseage will cause birth defects .

Ive been taking fish oil for about 6 months. Recommended intake is 12 per day, Im on 8 at the moment. There quite cheap in Australia. I believe it has worked extremely well, and I have pretty much re-joined the starch club without too much pain. Every week or 2 though I get bad pain in hips, neck and back. This kicks my NSD in gear again, and the whole process starts again.

My Rheumy specifically asked who told me to take fish oil, it was this site - which I explained to her.

I cant recommend it enough, and I will up the dosage shortly.
