this is not to negate the advice given you here, i've learned a lot by reading what others just posted to this, but this is to say, i understand.

i started on NSD, but after just a few days, switched to LSD. i don't have diabetes but it runs on both sides of my family and i have low blood sugar if i don't eat properly for me. my body tells me when its not happy with my diet, so i do the best i can. plus i have high cholesterol so i have to watch my fat intake and the types of fats i consume. plus i have to be careful of certain foods due to my gastritis.

but with that said, the person that posted the info regarding what happened when the woman with multiple medical problems reduced her carbs is something i've read time and again. our nation definitely doesn't eat the proper diet...too many refined carbs, too much of the wrong fat, too much food, too much processed food, etc. You should watch "supersize me", its a good reminder.

just do the best you can. when we have to balance multiple health concerns, it can be tricky.

Sue, I have a web site to recommend. http://bloodsugar101.com
Really informative. I think the author is up for a special award from a diabetes organization for educator of the year.

I think vegetables have plenty of carbs, all most people need, but I don't know anything about diabetes. Some probably have more then others, so you might want to choose them accordingly.

Have you ever read the book Sugar Blues by William Duffy? Its VERY interesting. I am not a diabetic, but the author was.

Azulfadine has a sulfa component.

I drank cabbage juice for 1/2 year. Stuff is potent... drink too much and you will have a lot of discomfort. Need to dilute the juice with water and other juices typically.

But it is supposed to contain L-glutamine that helps to heal the GI (hence why I drank it).

when i first had the gastritis hit me and hadn't figured out yet what helped and hurt it, i read about the cabbage juice, couldn't find it prepackaged and thought, i'll never be disciplined enough to make it every day, so i started eating coleslaw on a daily basis, just a little each day. it worked very well. i thought it odd that my body wasn't digesting most fruits and vegetables but cabbage that i thought to be much more roughage, my body digested that just fine. my stomach was good for 10 years, but lately has been cranky again, so its back to getting my daily dose of cabbage. the cabbage juice might be even more beneficial, but the cabbage fits into my routine better and seems to do the trick. maybe one day i'll get a juicer....

or better yet, do you have a source of premade cabbage juice ready to drink.

PS i now show SuperSize Me in my metabolism course that i teach.
so the students see there is real application to the science they are learning.

Hi Sue,

Sorry, unaware of anyone making it commercially. Sauerkraut works great for me, have really seen an improvement since began making my own.

Best to you,

Tim
