If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi, Is there anyone that has had recurring ulcers of the eye? In my left eye I will notice light sensitivity then a small cloud of white will show above the iris. My eye Dr. gives me steroid drops and antibiotic drops. I was wondering if this is a part of AS?

I posted this under your other entry. But will copy and paste to here also. I'm curious about this too. I have an ulcer under my eyelid (not a sty)-- it is not on the eye, but under the lower left lid. I noticed it about a year ago. The opth. gave me antibiotic ointment to put on it last April. It got smaller, but I can still see a tiny freckle of it if I pull my eyelid out and look. The opth also said to wash my eye out with baby shampoo. If you find out that it is related, please post. Thanks! Trace

Deb,
yes, so can drugs or recurrent infections ( some of herpes complexes are implicated ) but that's what the eye Dr is for, determine what is going on and treat appropriately. So you are doing the right thing.
Even severe dry eye can result in these issues.

Hi Trace, Sorry I couldn't reply last night. I had a long distance phone call come in. I did post a reply under the "friends and family " though.

Thanks Dave. My eye Dr. isn't familiar with AS. I was hoping that these things aren't appart of AS. I hope the ulcers will stop and stay away because if it gets over my pupil, I will loose my sight.

Deb,
are you eyes very dry? common in many auto immune diseases, use those artifical tear drops the pharmacist can help with which one as they are not all the same.
Salt water baths I get saline from the pharmacists as well.
My eyes are heaps better now on methetrexate but I have to watch them.
The common eye problems iritis uveitis episcelitis ( spelling ) but there are others I get keratitis which is cornea itis and very very painful, also leads to ulcerations.
Look around for a good eye Dr who is good with AS guys makes a big difference. Where I go even the girls doing the vision tests understand about AS and the difference in B27 status makes to the list of eye problems.
Its not always simple, but well worth a good consultation somwehere that knows the condition.
Dave

Hi Dave, No, my eyes aren't dry. I do wear contacts. I wore glasses, but I looked over the frames due to my neck being fused. I've given the eye Dr. my internist # so she could help him with me. Crazy how he hasn't called her yet. Small town. What's B27 status?
