Hi Everyone

I visited John (Cheerful) in the hospital today so I thought you might like an update.
What a guy !! Despite his condition he never stops joking around and giving his nurses a hard time. He also gives a lot of much needed support to his room mate.
He has to wear a special brace in order to sit up at all and is in a LOT of pain. Pain of course from the surgery and also now from terrible muscle spasms. I don't know how he stands it. The rods are screwed into his pelvis this time ( forgive me if that detail isn't completely accurate but I know the pelvis is also involved and and his spine is a mass of hardware )
Nevertheless, as I said, he continues to joke and chatter on as usual.
He thinks he will be in hospital for maybe another week and then is hoping to go on to rehab/convalescence for perhaps a few weeks. I really hope this is what happens, as going straight home will be incredibly difficult.

He and Joanne deserve all the support we can give them throughout this time. This is an awful ordeal for them

Maggie

Thanks for the update and the encouragement. It just takes people like that to keep the rest of us going and able to keep our spirits up. I always love and need to hear these stories

Thanks Maggie.
Blessings.

Maggie - thanks so much for the update. You are a star and such a sweetheart for going to visit John! What a guy eh. Wow, it scares me to think of the pain he's in.. it must be torture to endure.

I'm not surprised at all to hear he's joking and giving his nurses a hard time. That's just so like him, isn't it. I bet he's keeping those nurses on their toes!

Oh I hope they'll move him to a rehab centre before home too... that would be good for both John and Joanne. I can't imagine he'd be ready to go home yet so soon after such a massive surgery.

Joanne, please tell John I'm thinking of him everyday and wishing the days will go quickly for him in there. And wishing you are managing to get some rest.

Love,
mig

Thanks for the update on John Maggie. Good to hear that he seems to be in good spirits and he still has his sense of humour.

Maggie thankyou so much for the update. I can't even imagine what John has had to endure and will continue to in his recovery. What strength. I will, of course, continue to pray for both of them.

A member asked me for John's address to send a card to. If anyone else would like it, please pm me. I know he would truly appreciate any encouragement we can give him and lord knows, he needs and deserves it.

Thanks to Mig, Dan, Possi and Cindy for your replies.

Oh yes, if possible, we should try to shower John with Get Well cards - KA style!!! He'd be very touched by any show of support, I am sure. And anything that might help him through these difficult days would be a blessing.

Brilliant idea Maggie!

Hugs!

Maggie,

Thanks for the update of John I was wondering how he was doing, while I did not have the pin, screws, rods and plates put in they made me lay there for three days after both of my surgeries after removing the disc so things could start healing.

John's was much more extensive especially with him not healing correctly the first time she had this done, Keeping him in my thoughts and prayers.

Brent
