If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I stopped at the compounding pharmacy today to pick up a prescription and some probiotics.
The pharmacist recommends that probiotics be taken on an empty stomach. I've seen recommendations that they be taken with meals.
Anyone care to chime in with an opinion?

I haven't noticed a difference, but perhaps they could upset your stomach if you took them on an empty stomach, try and see what happens.
But I would recommend, if you are taking any antifungals or meds that may interfere with the probiotics, take the antifungal in the morning and the probiotic at night. I am following that regimend now for the past month, and I have improved 100%. For the past month, I have now been able to tolerating fruits daily, after 10 months of not being able to. Yea!

Hi Karen,
I usually take probiotics (when I'm taking them, don't always) first thing in the morning before i have eaten anything. A naturopath told me to do this years ago and it just feels right to me before any food is being digested and interfering with absorption.
All the best, Ruby7

you take ENZYMES with or just before a meal... probiotics are best on an empty stomach.
Ali... not sure why you're having problems with Florastor... maybe you need to cut your doseage in half and start slower. I'm thinking your bloating is from the die-off of the candida in your system. If you are too aggressive and have a HUGE over-growth problem, they die off faster than your body can get rid of the toxins of their 'decay' and you have bloating, gas & flu-like symptoms. you need to make sure you have regular bowel movements & aren't constipated. That will cause lots of problems too.
If you are dealing with IBS... I'm sure Dragonslayer has a good protocol for those issues. My hubby has IBS & was unable to tolerate many OTC probiotics. He has done very well with naturally fermented probiotics and has seen a great improvement when ingesting and can tell when he's missed a week.. We do Kefir & Kombucha on a regular basis to kill candida & bacteria & detox other issues because it's made daily & it's guaranteed to be live (and cheap too!). We ingest these first thing in the morning on empty stomach and the kombucha tea is taken just before a meal to help us digest it better. also drink it at bed time.
my naturopath suggested drinking a chamomile or pauD'arco tea at night... anything sleepy. the 'things' inside us always do their feeding at night so if you drink something that is relaxing they will get sleepy as well and not feed as much and won't lay their 'eggs'. Then in the morning you can take the anti-"parasite,candida,fungus,etc" and will kill them better.
that's how we do it. I'm not sure there is a definate right or wrong way to do it.

Hi Karen,
Some probiotics manufacturers state to take with meals to help with digestion. I prefer taking prior to meals or before going to bed as I believe they help with repairing GI, improving ph among other numerous benefits.... otherwise I believe they are busy helping with digestion.
I believe it may depend on your goal. Trudi has a good point regarding enzymes as well.

The Natrren Healthy Trinity bottle advises not to take them within 2 hours of eating garlic or herbs. I guess the garlic might kill the friendly bacteria in the probiotics.
I usually take these a couple of hours after eating, before I go to bed.

I just learned something interesting that I had never heard before. You should take probiotics with your dinner in the evening, or the largest meal of your day, because they need food to grow on.

Many probiotic capsules contain other ingredients, such as starches or sugars, that may cause you problems. Try Healthy Trinity by Natren or now I am taking one called Life 5 by Young Living.
